SOURCE: cd rom drive

Either the drive has gone bad and will need replacing the Windows installation is corrupt.
I would first try reinstalling Windows and see if that fixes the issue. You will need to back up any data that you have before doing this.
If you still have the same problem then replace the drive. Below is a link to a manual on how to replace hardware on the laptop:

http://bizsupport.austin.hp.com/bc/docs/support/SupportManual/c01120667/c01120667.pdf

You can find more troubleshooting info on your laptop at the following link:

Hope this helps!

Im having trouble putting a new operating system.cd rom wont pick up

Please provide the complete details.. make and model number, operting system!
Make sure you've tested more than one CD in the disc drive, it is possible for one CD to be bad or dirty and not be read properly

  1. Click Start
  2. Click Settings
  3. Click Control Panel
  4. Double-click System
  5. Click the Hardware tab and then the Device Manager button or just the Device Manager tab.
Within Device Manager verify that the CD-ROM has no exclamation marks or red Xs. If listed with a yellow exclamation mark or red X, remove the CD-ROM by highlighting the drive and pressing the delete key and reboot the computer to reinstall the CD-ROM drive

Acer dvd driver missing acer ferrari 400 dvd uj-845-c

CD/DVD drive drivers are Operating System generic drivers and need not to be installed explicitly. The CD/DVD drive drivers are installed along with the Operating System and can be reinstalled automatically at next restart, if missing.

Check in the Device Manager under the "CD/DVD drive" category if there is any device listed there and having exclamation mark. If there is any exclamation mark visible beside the CD/DVD drive name then right click on it and restart the Computer.

Restarting the Computer will reinstall the CD/DVD drive driver thus causing it to work normally.

Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39) Laptop Levono y530, device dvd rw optiarc AD-7580s I tried to uninstall & reinstall it, but...

Give this a whirl:
CD-Rom stops working. After checking device manager you find an exclamation mark on the drive. It doesn't mean the drive is dead. It could be an upperfilter or lowerfilter registry issue that is keeping you from accessing the cd drive.

This fix worked for my client:
http://www.dougknox.com/xp/utils/XP_CD-DVD-Fix.zip

Also, try this fix from microsoft.

CD-ROM access is missing and messages cite error code 31, code 32, code 19, code 39, or code 41.

Try this before replacing the drive and remember that you may have to reinstall some burning software.

My cd rom is not reading i think it is missing a driver

The yellow triangle is signifying that there is a problem with the drive. Usually it is a driver that has gotten corrupted. Try uninstalling the drive in your device manager then reboot. See if Windows reinstalls the drive automatically. 99% of the time this will fix the problem. Hope this helps & please take a moment to rate this solution. Thanks.

Dvd rw

Hi,
Please go through the below provide steps.
Fixing Code 39 Error
If your CD-ROM drive is not visible in My Computer, you may see the following error message displayed with the CD or DVD drive item in your Device Manager. (Steps to open Device Manager are discussed later in the article.)
"Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)"
Using Device Manager
To fix this error, first try to update the driver from the Device Manager. To open Device Manager, right-click My Computer on your Desktop, and then on the Hardware tab, select the Device Manager button.
In the Device Manager window, identify the CD or DVD drive item (with Yellow exclamation mark), right-click on it and select Update Driver. Follow the screen instructions to update the device driver and restart your PC.
Using Registry Editor
If updating the driver does not resolve the problem, it indicates that there is a problem in the registry. To fix this problem, you may have to remove a few keys from the registry.
Note: Be careful while working with the registry editor because changes done to the registry using the Registry Editor are irreversible and mistakes can leave you with more problems than when you started. Therefore, it is recommended that you make a backup of the registry before proceeding with the changes.
After you have removed the registry keys listed below, you will have to reinstall all applications that you use for CD or DVD recording to make them work properly.
To fix the error by editing the registry, perform the following steps:
  1. Exit and close all applications currently running on your PC.
  2. On Start > Run type Regedit and press the Enter key.
  3. Next, navigate to the following registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\ Control\Class\ {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
  4. Delete any of the following registry entries if they exist under this key:
    • LowerFilters
    • LowerFilters.bak
    • UpperFilters
    • UpperFilters.bak
  5. Restart your PC and open My Computer to ensure that the CD-ROM drive is visible.
  6. Also, open the Device Manager again to ensure that the yellow exclamation mark and the error code is now gone.
  7. Restart your PC and open My Computer to ensure that the CD-ROM drive is visible.
  8. Also, open the Device Manager again to ensure that the yellow exclamation mark and the error code is now gone.
Thank you........

Problem with cd/dvdw driver

An exclamation mark next to the cd/dvdw in device manage means that there is a problem with the device's drivers. Either they are not the correct driver, or it has become corrupt. Try reinstalling the driver from the Toshiba website.
