Go to dells website and get the driver there. there should be a code somewhere on the bottom of the laptop that says what model number it is, and you input that into the dell drivers site, and it goes through all the drivers you can download. obviously, you'll have to connect with an ethernet cord to do so, and if you can't get it working, you could always pick up a cheap wireless adapter on ebay for about 10 dollars.

I reinstalled operating system (windows xp). Now my screen is "glitchy" or slow to respond, is this a driver problem or computer issue?

I think it is a probable driver issue and as XP is very limited on drivers being an obsolete OS I would go to dell.com and see if any drivers will fit your use.

Dell XPS M1210 broken

I'm thinking you might be having a hard drive problem or the file structure is really messed up.
You had Win 7 and tried to install Win XP. Now it is confused, no doubt.
Here's the first thing I would do:
Put in your Win XP disk and boot from it.
At the first question it asks (about repair or install) choose repair.
It will then ask you which Windows Installation--choose #1 if it's there.
Hit enter if it asks for your password.
Now at the command prompt, type chkdsk /?
Depending on your version of XP, it will show you the switches you can use. Use the one that checks the entire drive. Might be chkdsk /P or maybe /F
Anyway, use the one that does the whole drive and let it run. Then try your reinstall unless you have file problems that aren't fixed.
BTW--your Dell should have a utilities option if you hit F12 at startup that will allow you to check your hard drive.

I have a dell xps m1210. i am doing a system restore. what will happen?

If you load a system restore point (Windows System Restore) the system will have the software settings returned to the way they were on the date the restore point was created. Any software install after that point will need to be reinstalled.

If you run a PC-Restore this RE-IMAGES the system to the way it was when it arrived from the factory. EXACTLY like it was the 1st time it was turned on. All Data files and software installed on the system will be overwritten.
