Canon S50 Not working

My Canon S50 suddenly stopped working.. Checked the batteries and they are good. Any ideas on troubleshooting.. Thanks.

    Same problem... went to use the S50 one day and it didn't work. Switched to the charged spare battery and ...nothing.

    Same with mine. Went to use oneday, shutter came out but when trying to take picture, it just closed up. Error msg is "E16". Don't know what that mean. Try changing the battery also. Still doesn't work.

    My canon power shot s 50 is transfering pictures to the computer and when change the compact card, the camera stoped.Computer dont recognize it.I' m looking the battery and it is fine.I'd never been in a situation like that.The camara is stoped. I need this camera to an urgent order.what do I do?

Try using some canned air around the lens housing and lens door.

I would guess fuel pump. Have you checked fuel pressure?

Your looking at a bad DC/DC board. Probably about $250 repair. I wouldn't trash it. as it is still a good camera.

Flash use "kills battery dead"
The most likely culprit is a several year old battery that is not accepting or holding a sufficient charge. Turning the camera on, and taking a non-flash photo may not tax the battery too much. However, when the flash is called for, the power demand may exceed the battery's ability to deliver enough juice. A new(er) battery is probably your best bet to resolve the problem.
