Ther is no reset button. You have to take the batteries out.

Take the AAA batteries out and take the back up battery out...located in a little door with a screw just above the AAA batteries. Leave the batteries out for about 8 hours. This is how you reset a TI graphing calculator.

SOURCE: Garbage Collecting

graphing calulators work much like computers. The have RAM space so they can remember what you have done recently and stuff like that. So when it's garbage collecting it means it's trying to find more space. This generally means that you don't have much much ARC or RAM space left. You can see this under your memerory manager. (2nd + enter) then you can reset your calculaor(2nd plus 7 1 2) or you can go to memory manager and unarchive your programs. Fur an example you have TI 84. Most new TI 84 have sientific tools. so if you don't you it take away the archive (*) by pressing enter and then hit DEL. the more RAM space and ARC space should make it so it doens't garababe collect. Hope this works. i can help you more if this doesn't work. GOOD LUCK

Cant find ! button

There is no such thing as a TI89 Plus Silver Edition.

If you mean the TI-89 or TI-89 Titanium, press diamond / (the diamond key below the 2ND key, then the divide key).

If you mean the TI-83 Plus Silver Edition or the TI-84 Plus Silver Edition, press MATH left-arrow 4 .

Is there areset button my keys are frozen

Unfortunately, you can only access RESET from within the menus of the calculator. You will have to remove all of the batteries and let the system naturally reset. The TI-84 Plus uses five batteries: four AAA alkaline batteries and one SR44SW or 303 silver oxide backup battery. The silver oxide battery provides auxiliary power to retain memory while you replace the AAA batteries. Re-install the batteries and reprogram your functions.

My TI-84 calculator says "Garbage Collecting" and won't work, how should I reset it?

Found at www.epsstore.ti.com

What can be done if a TI-83 Plus family or TI-84 Plus family calculator displays Garbage Collecting... for more than 20 minutes?

The garbage collection allows the cleanup of unused archive memory. It deletes unarchived variables from the user data archive and it rearranges the remaining variables into consecutive blocks. When a variable is unarchived, the Archive free memory amount increases immediately, but the space is not actually available until after the next garbage collection.

If garbage collecting is more than 20 minutes, the calculator has possibly locked up and will need to be reset.

The reset procedure will delete all the items that are in the memory of the graphing calculator. Use the reset procedure below:
• Remove 1 AAA battery.
• Press and hold down the [DEL] key.
• While holding down the [DEL] key, replace the AAA battery, and press the [ON] Key.

The message Waiting... Please install calculator software should appear. At this point, it will be necessary to reinstall the calculator's operating system.
• Connect the calculator to the computer using the TI Connectivity Cable or DirectUSB Cable.

Please post if this was helpful...
• In Windows®, click on Start >> Programs >> TI Tools >> TI Connect >> TI OS Downloader.
• In MacOS® X, open Hard Drive >> Applications >> TI Connect >> TI OS Restore.
• Follow the directions on screen to reinstall the calculator's operating system.
Access the link following for detailed instructions on how to complete operating system installation.

Reloading OS

Apparently you can reset the calc if you remove a battery, hold delete and re-insert the battery....

However, try this...Find somebody with the same calc and connect them together. On the working calc Press 2nd, link [x,t,n], G: send OS and wait for good things to happen...

TI-84 Plus, Garbage Collecting.....

There is an easier way. No deleting anything involved. When you turn on your calculator and it says "Garbage Collecting" take out all 4 AAA batteries. Then, either put those same 4 back in, or replace them with 4 new ones. Then, hold down the -CLEAR- button, and then at the same time, press on. If your batteries are almost dead, nothing will pop up but it will look like the screen is kind of flashing. New batteries will fix that problem in a jiffy, and then brand new calculator :) Worked for me, hope this helps!

you shouldn't need a username and password. Download the OS from education,ti.com.and right click it, there should be an option to "Send To TI Device..." That should work.
