Hi, I used to work in Best Buy and one of the key things about rear projection TVs and the reason they push those service plans on you is that the tubes/colors need to be calibrated each year. You can do this yourself by checking out the following website:
http://lgknowledgebase.com/kb/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=3229
If you are not able to adjust the convergence using the remote you will need to replace the convergence chips.
Typical Symptoms
1) Convergence menu does not work for one or more colors.
Such as: Red moves up,down, but left or right fails.
2) Screen is bowed looking.
If you have one or more of the problems above you need to replace the convergence chips. You can get a kit and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com
Hope this helps :)
Maybe the green tube is defective try to replaced it.

I don't recommend working on the TV unless you have some
experience and knowledge relating to the safety issues and electronic
repair. Most rookies will not
successfully complete the repair and probably do more harm than good.
Sometimes when the convergence chips fail, the TV senses the changed load
condition and shuts down.
Unplugging the blue, red or green convergence connector on the convergence
board removes the overload condition if the IC is shorted and allows the tv to
run, with one color missing.
This is done with the tv unplugged. Then plugged in and turned on to see if it starts. Turn off immediately if
you here it start.
Now you know if convergence failure caused the shutdown. You can repair
the convergence circuit if that is the problem.
If this has no affect, then you could have a number of different faults in Vertical output, Power Supply or HV circuits that require the expertise of a qualified service person. This
would be a bench repair in most shops.
If you live around Calgary, Alberta try me instead:

Or try to the find the repairperson part of this website (on the Homepage) and
search postal code. Maybe you will be
lucky and someone from your area is listed for Projection TV repair.
Most rookies doing this job will cause damage and not be successful. They will
pay double for someone to fix their mess or end up scrapping the TV. It is not a simple task. It is more
difficult than batteries on a remote.
Good Luck

You may try to get into the service menu and adjust screens/drives level(procedure below).
But first turn the color off completely and adjust you brightness to mid-range, what you`ll want to do is a grey raster or bring it as black and white as you can while adjusting the red/green /blue guns or tubes.
Also get a piece of paper and pen because you`ll want to record the original values of the items you may change.
You want to go into the adjustment menu.
Hope this will help Good luck
In quick sequence on the remote press:
MUTE - 1 - 8 - 2 - POWER buttons.
The TV will turn On with the Service Menu displayed.
ADJUSTMENT - TEST PATTERN - SET OPTION BYTE - FACTORY RESET
Select the function and use the VOL+ button to enter.
Save settings and exit by pushing MUTE twice then POWER .

You need your optics cleaned. To be more specific, your projection lens. This is an easy repair which works best with long arms. All you need to do is remove the screws around the screen frame, then pull the screen frame and rear cover apart a few inches on the top. It will give a bit, but don't try to yank it. Then stand on a chair and reach down into the cabinet from the top with a micro fiber or a clean cotton cloth and wipe the dust off the lens. Don't scrub it, treat it like a automobile finish... gentle. It's ok to do this with the TV on, as you need to see the results as you clean it up. Becareful not to touch the big mirror in the back, you'll see any smudges in the picture. I hope this helps.

take it to a channel that is black and white program if you can; instead of black and white is screen green? or does it have a yellow area somewhere on the screen?
