Door will not open with wall switch or remote

Hi. I have a Raynor, 1/2 hp, Aviator garage door opener. It was installed new when my house was built about 4 yrs ago. One day in the morning the opener worked fine and then when my wife came home later in the day and the door would not go up. The safety sensors are in alignment and are not the problem as the light flashes when out of alignment (when the operator button is pressed).

When the button is pressed (either on the remote or the hardwired wall switch), the opener just hums for a 1-2 sec, the light turns on, (does not flash) so i know it's getting power, but then that's it. It doesn't go up. I've increased the 'up-force' adjustment thinking maybe it was at too light of a setting but it didn't help. I've even released the latching mechanism so the door can be lifted manually and even with it released and essentially no weight on the motor, it still doesn't do anything but hum for 1-2 sec and the light turn on. I can hardly believe that it's shot after only a few years. Any thoughts?

Depending on the type of motor that is used in your garage door opener, it could be something as small as a start capacitor, or potentially a bad motor. Hope this helps

Raynor Model 120-8 Garage Door Opener. How do I program a Raynor Model 120-8 to a hand held remote please?

ensure that the remote is Raynor and compatible with you model GDO
on the back of your garage door opener there is a colored learn button--press and release-the learn indicator light will glow for a short time usually 30 seconds. within thirty seconds press and hold the buton on the hand held remote that you wish to operate your garage door. release the button when the motor unit lights blink. if you don;t have a light, two clicks will be heard. it has learned the code. procedure will be different for multi function control.

Raynor garage door motor won't run and won't open the door. It is not sending power to the system despite being plugged in to a working outlet.

More than likely, the transformer in the opener is fried. You need to verify 110V power coming into the transformer, and that there is 24V AC power coning out of the transformer

The remote opener in my far works, but the garage door opened on the wall of my garage will not open the door. What is wrong?

Perhaps the wall opener control needs to be accepted by the opener, press the button on the opener head unit and then press the wall switch. Consider new batteries before you do so.

If you didn't, try programming the remote this way.

Press and hold the button on the remote and then press and immediately release the smart/learn button on the motor unit. If this doesn't work you need to make sure you have the correct remote for the model opener you have. Your model number doesn't bring any results from Sears Parts.com.

If the wall button will operate the door up but none of the devices do then look at the wall button. Find the lock button and push it for 2 seconds and then try the remotes again. This is your vacation lock. You can get a manual at chamberlain.com. Now if the door does not open or close with the remotes you can reprogram them. Press the colored learn button on the motor head and then press the button on the remote. Repeat for each remote. If they fail to program you will need a new logic board. Thanks BB

This web address came from the Chamberlain site. I also needed to relearn my remotes due to a newer car that has a built in garage door opener that needed to be set. I also needed to reset my keypad remote, those instructions I was able to get from the same site. Good Luck
