Tray doesn't open!

At times, my tray doesn't open! I'll turn it off and simply use a back up mixer at a gig, however the next day, lo and behold, now the tray will open! why is this happening?

Sometimes the electronic device thats programed to open the door malfunctions from wear and tear or its just defected from the manufacture, if you have warranty send it to Gemsound so they can replace the defected peace.

My artesian kitchenAid stand mixer will not turn back on after using it

Make sure it's unplugged, remove and inspect the carbon brushes one at a time under those black screws on the side. They are keyed with one corner of the square ground off so will only go in properly one way so eyes open when you take them out. If they are less than 10mm long replace them. Next would be look under the back cover for a broken wire to the black square speed control plate. Broken wires are only likely to be one of the bottom 2 on either side. Any more testing is going to require a multimeter.

Need manual and part number for brushes on a Kitchenaid RRK90

Well first thing; here is the link to the KitchenAid site where your parts list can be found.
http://www.kitchenaid.com/digitalassets/MLPDF/Repair%20Part%20List%20-%208212057.pdf

Next, the parts list will tell you what the part number is for the brushes and all the parts that make up the brush assembly. If you need to replace any part other than the brushes you will need to do a full tear down to do that. Also; remember that there are four different ways to replace the brushes but only one way will work. You need to be very careful to remember which way the old brushes come out, there is a beveled edge on one side of the brushes and the new brushes need to go back the exact same way or they will not reach the commutator on the armature and the mixer will not work until the brushes make that contact with the armature.
Lastly the reason that your mixer gets out of time is that over time, 8-10 years of use, the nuts on the speed control switch that hold the three timing screws in place simply get loose due to vibration and the screws can rotate in or out. Some times the screws vibrate loose and the mixer just will not turn on next time the mixer is used. Peeps then think it's broke and will not work so they sell it for parts and by a new mixer. When the only thing they need to fix it is a Phillips screwdriver , a small 3/8th open box wrench and about 20 minutes time to fix it.
Anyway I hope that this helped to answer your question. Please let us know if it helped and if not let me know and I'll try to help fixya.

What can I do to make my mixer turn on? It wont

Some ...what you may consider silly stuff...
1 check the outlet that you are plugging your mixer into it may be bad. Not the wire but the plug in the wall may be bad, plug a hair dryer in on high if it runs for 60 seconds it ok.
2 check the plug of the mixer make sure it is not bent at the wall pins
3 open the rear of the mixer by removing the round cover at the rear of the mixer look for loose wires, sometimes the socket connectors on the speed switch break off.
4 there are three screws on the speed control switch that control the mixer, sometimes after time these screws can actually turn due to vibration and the mixer will just not start....so.....start with the top right screw and turn it counter clock wise a quarter turn and start the mixer if it starts even for a half a second then the problem is in the switch. and your only problem is the proper timing set by the three screws.
5 gears inside the mixer can strip and freeze the motor so nothing turns...put your ear next to the machine mid way and turn it on ...if you hear a hum from inside then it is a gear problem.
6 If your machine is older then 1978 then it may be the IR filter inside the mixer (hard to find )
7 the carbon brushes that are located on the side of the mixer may have finally worn down (cheap fix) but there are four ways to put the new brushes into the machine and only one way works. You have to be careful with the beveled edge of the new brush and which way it fits back into the housing.
8 Now you are inside the mixer if everything else fails, the motor is the next step and it will require a full tear down, to repair, there are two parts the armature and the winding and each will take about thirty-five bucks to get and either or both will take about 2 hours to repair but if you go all the way down then you need a new gasket and gear grease clean and re-pack too. At this point you are performing an overhaul . let us know if this helps.

On switch stuck on 10

Is speed lever literally stuck and can not be moved or is the motor speed always on high? The two have separate solutions.

The easy one is the stuck lever. Open the mixer up and see what is going on.

The other requires more effort. Again, opening things up is the first step. This time, however, simply removing the back cover should do. The most likely solution has to do with adjusting the control plate screws and the other may be replacing the phase board. See the Service Manual which can be downloaded at:

The mixer simply doesn't turn on. Worked fine yesterday. Today it seems like it's just dead

HI.Let me jusk ask if yiou also tried to connet to another socket.Let me just clarify that the motor itself did not work /rotate as well.Prior to that situation, have you tried to mix more than what is the capacity of your mixer. If possible motor was overworked/that's why its coil was burnt.There. are possibilities then. First might be that the mixers terminals inside will no longer engaged properly that's why it opens the circuit.Second the motor isn't working because the rotor and armatures coil was burnt because it runs beyond its maximum wattage capacity that's why it draws much current beyond the rotors coil capacity.Did you mixed something heavy.the motor works heavier the last time you used the unit?

Grinding noise

I needed to replace the nylon worm drive in my mixer. When I put it back together, I found that my mixer made a kind of grinding noise. The noise was due to a vibration associated with the cover for the electrical wiring in the back of the mixer. I solved my noise simply by loosening the screw to this cover. The cover is located on the back of the mixer, and the screw is on the top.
Separately, to find instructions for opening your mixer, you can go to http://neilcrockett.com/mixer.htm.

Can you lengthen the beater by loosing a screw?

Hi, KLOEHR, your beater will not lengthen by losing a screw. However, if you lost your Beater to Bowl Clearance adjustment screw, then it might appear that your beater had ‘grown’ because now the beater may be touching the bottom of your mixing bowl, where previously it had not. Simply said, the beater didn’t grow the mixer head drooped.
You don’t say if you have a ‘tilt-head’ or a ‘bowl-lift' mixer, but you can easily download a PDF version of your Owners Manual from the KA website at: (http://www.kitchenaid.com/flash.cmd?/#/page/home).
Click on Customer Care>Locate Manuals& Guides> and enter the 6 character model number (in your case, use KSM5PS)and select the last file listed that appear under Owners Manuals: KSM5PSWW0.pdf (2930.74 KB) and save that file to your PC. You’ll need to have Adobe Reader to be able to open it. Turn to Page 11 and you will find the instructions for adjusting the mixer head height. I have extracted the instructions below:
Beater to Bowl Clearance
Your mixer is adjusted at the factory so that the flat beater just clears the bottom of the bowl. If for any reason, the flat beater hits the bottom of the bowl or is too far away from the bowl, clearance.

Tilt-Head models
• Unplug mixer.
• Lift motor head.

• Turn screw (A) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater or clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
• Make adjustment with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.
If you over adjust the screw, the bowl lock lever may not lock into place.

Bowl-Lift models
• Unplug mixer.
• Place bowl lift handle in down position.

• Turn screw (B) SLIGHTLY counter clockwise (left) to raise flat beater and clockwise (right) to lower flat beater.
•Make adjustments with flat beater, so it just clears surface of bowl.

If you find the adjustment screw missing, you’ll need to replace it. But now you’ll need
I hope this helps! –Howard, Burke, VA

Mixer catching bottom of bowl model hobart a120

There are several possible causes:1. The blades of the beater/s may be distorted (bent) 2. The beaters are in the wrong way round 3. The bottom tray is not seated down properly - there may be something in the central hole 4. The bowl may be damaged
