I have GE Profile cook top model JGP963BEK. This morning i spilled some water on top of the range. Though, the cook top is covered with foil, i guess, some water got under front burner heads & control knobs. Now I have a problem that left and right front spark igniters are constantly on. I disconnected power cord, cleaned dry the top and under the burners heads and control knobs, but still after 2 hours igniters are continue to be on in off position.1. Do I need to replace cooktop electrodes? If 'yes', can i just use plier to pull them off and replace with new ones?2. Do I need to replace control elements of the knobs?3. If not 2 above, what needs to be fixed? :)Thanks a lot in advance
The electrical wiring under the burners has been short
probably from liquids leaks during cooking.
That is why you had the spark. The only electrical part you
have to your coo top is the electric ignite nothing else. So you should remove
all burners' assemblies from the top so to reach the bottom part where the gas
pipes are located and the ignite part no 318 in drawing Spark module
Part Number:
AP3778816made by GE.
So first you can use a hair
dryer do try it out and be sure there is not and liquid in it and put
electrical plug again to test it. If you still have the same problem, replace
the Spark module with a new one.
Here below you will find the
parts layout of your range for all the help you might need.
