I just bought a 4GB SDHC memory card for my Sanyo C6. When I turn on the camera it asks me to format, when I format it says "formatting do not power off" and then it goes straight back to the format option. I can't exit or anything. I read that you should use a SDHC card and I think I read that it takes up to 8GB cards, but I'm not certain.
Thanks
Did you update the Firmware of the camera? The VPC-C6 can read and write to SDHC memory cards up to 4GB but it would require to have the latest Firmware being installed on the camera. Firmware can be downloaded via http://www.sanyo-dsc.com/english/support/updata/vpc_c6/index.html
I just bought a Xacti HD800 and had the same problem.
The solution was :
- Turn on the Xacti with NO SD card inside
- It will ask you to enter informations like the date.
- Then at some point he will tell you it needs a card to store information and while expect you to insert a SD card
- Insert the SD cart, the formatting process will start automatically and last like half a second.
- Enjoy your new toy !
I hope this will help you.

I just tried to install the Firmware on my camera, but I can't download the upgrade until I have the SD card formatted. Do you think that I may have a problem with the SD card? I tried it in another digital camera and it wouldn't format in it either, but it's quite an old camera.
same problème with the HD800, did you find a solution ?
