SOURCE: Unable to Format WesternDigital USB Hard Disk

Are you formatting a new disk or an existing one? Keep in mind that the rest of us do not know all the details that you know unless you tell us & thus it will take much longer to resolve your issue.
You said "after you tried it with XP CD". Dont know what you mean. What program did you use the first time & what steps did you do?

SOURCE: samsung40 gb harddisk unable to format (SP0411N).

Try formatting / partitioning the drive with windows xp setup / installation cd. If you are trying to format or delete partition in windows and its your c: drive you will not be able to do that.

My Toshiba Satellite L775-00P notebook said that i should have 750 gb of total ram yet when I check my C drive it says I have 317 gb. How can that be? My computer only has a C drive with space which is 317...

Well,
It can be possible that your HDD is partitioned only in c drive and rest space is blank(or Unpartitioned). You can use it simly by:
1) Right Click On My Computer (On Desktop)
2) Click On Manage.
3) Select Disk Management.
Here, You can See Your How it is partitioned. if there is any blank space other then c you can create new drive yourself. just Right click on this unnamed partition and create new partition.

Good Luck.

My G DRIVE Mobile 750 GB only has 126 MB

Click the "Start" button, type "diskmgmt.msc" and look at the Disk list from 0~x and find "G Drive (E: )". Check the disk on the right side with a blue long bar on top which is partitioned disk. It will be one blue partition indicating that the HDD capacity is near 732GB. If the G Drive has more than one partition on it, then u need to delete all and merge it to one partition. Go to partition and just click right button of your mouse, choose "Volume Delete(D)" and proceed to delete. If all partitions are deleted then right click to make a new volume "New Simple Volume" and follow the wizard's steps to create and format(NTFS) your new volume. This will solve your problem and if not, it might have a HW error or any problem with the disk itself. You'll need to check it at the Apple store where you bought it.

BTY, PC NTFS formated HDD might need a utility for the MAC os to read the HDD properly. You can use NTFS-3G or Paragon NTFS, but "Mounty for NTFS" will be the easiest one for you.

How to re-join two partitions on one external hard drive?

You cannot. You delete both and then make one partition.
There is software available that will let you resize a partition. (E.g. Acronis Disk Director). In this case you delete one partition and the resize the remaining partition to use the space created.
Most important: Back your data up to another hard disk before making any changes to your disk.

If this helps please vote for my solution.

Toshiba MK6034GAX Shows only 30gb

Linux may be on another partition and Windows cannot recognize it, otherwise the MBR could be damaged and you should conect it externally and run a disk check on the drive.

WD 500 GB resized by Norton Ghost Restore to 120 GB and can not get it to original size.

You should partition your new drive first to say 160Gb (you lose a bit after formatting) for 1st partition and the remaining capacity for the 2nd partition. Because your Ghost image is 120Gb it can only restore to a partition of 120Gb, that is why it shows 120Gb on a 500Gb on a single partition.
You may be able to fix this problem without starting again by using Disk Manager (from Control Panel - Admoinistrative Tools) to create a 2nd partition on the hard drive and format this partition.

Partition error

Try using the command FDISK /mbr. This should fix the master boot record. If not, then if you don't care about the data on your drive, you could wipe it clean with any of the several utilities available on the web and then try partitioning it. Search for "Wipe Disk" in Google.
