SOURCE: thread wont overlock

When the thread breaks too often, try these, that goes for all sewing machines
1. Replace the needles,
2. Loosen slightly the tension of the needle threads.
3. The top threads are to thin,
4.The sewing (rotary) hook or looper, has burs,
5. Wrong threading

SOURCE: Elna SU missing stiches and breaking thread

it sounds like the needle hook timing is out. You need to get the needle in the lowest position and measure the gap from the needle to the hook point on the bobbin shuttle. It should be 1/4". You will need to remove the foot and foot plate to be able to see. I use a 1/4" drill bit as a gauge. If you need to adjust it, you will need to remove the free arm cover to the right of the foot and loosen the 2 allen head screws that hold the drive gear. Adjust the gap, tighten the screws and retry. Usually if the needle catches the thread to early, it will make a bad stitch and the upper thread will break. If it catches to late, it will make thread loops and the machine will skip stitches. Good luck, these are a good machine and worth fixing. Phil

SOURCE: Top thread stitches correctly but bottom thread loops.

FYI---- Loops on the bottom-- problem is in the threading..
Loops on the top--- problem is with the bobbin.

SOURCE: My Evolve serger is skipping stitches while using

First, change the needles making sure to use the el705 needle system. Second, make sure the subsidiary looper is engaged properly (plugging up the upper looper hole). Also make sure the needles are all the way up in the machine. This should do it or it may need to be adjusted but the Evolve is a very, very reliable machine. Hope this helps...

Testimonial: "Thanks I am going to try this as soon as I can, but right now occupied with a job with my industrial machine. My only issue may be with the needle."

SOURCE: AUTO THREADER CAME OUT

When you activated the threader, the needle was down and the threader came off or broke.

If it is not broken, you may be able to push it back into place.

Turn off the power and tip the machine back on some towels so it does not slip and with a flash light check the area where it fits and see if you can get it back into position.

If not, will have to thread the needle the old fashion way.

Check with your Brother dealer to see if they can look at the machine while you wait.

They may be able to get it back together or they will have to replace the threader.

It is possible they will have one in stock, or they may have to order it.

Elna serger is not creating chain stitch

Rethread! Your lose looper has a "hidden" eye all the way to the left. You will find task easy with serger looper tweezers and serger looper Threader; however, if you turn hand wheel to the left, the lower looper will slide in that direction. Now you will see that "hidden" hole now. It takes practice, but you can still thread it without the extra tools! Hope this helps and if it does, I will get point for if you give me rating since I offer my time free to help others. Jimmy

My Husqvarna diamond top thread keeps breaking while doing loop embroidery. It sews a couple of stitches and then you can hear when the thread breaks. Ive tried changing the needle and bobbin, and cleaning...

Hello

Primary causes of upper thread breakage:

-- misthreading: pull all the thread off and thread again, using the manual, step by step. Read each step aloud before you do it. (sounds dumb, but helps.) (And make sure you thread the takeup lever!)

-- thread has wrapped itself around a thread guide or spool pin from one of the breaks. Take the spool off the machine before rethreading.

-- bad or damaged needle. Replace with the right size for the fabric, turned correctly (backwards needles skip stitches)

-- dirty machine, especially in the bobbin case area: review cleaning instructions and do it, using brush and vacuum only

-- bad/cheap thread: should not be slubby or break easy. Try another spool.

-- top thread tension too tight. 4 is normal for most fabrics, most stitches.

Tips;

1) do a light cleaning (brush and vacuum) every day you sit down to sew.

2) replace the needle if you hear it hit metal, if you've got a really bad thread jam, if you see it deflect as you sew (for instance, sewing over the side seam on jeans when hemming). Replace every 3-8 hours of actual stitching time anyhow.

3) buy good quality thread

4) when your machine isn't sewing right, stop; take all the thread off of/out of the machine (bobbin out of bobbin case, spool off spool pin) and give it a quick cleaning. Rethread from scratch, carefully. If that doesn't fix it, do it again, then replace needle and rethread one more time, manual in hand (yah, even if you've threaded it 8 million times before). #4 is curative about 98% of the time. The other 2% often requires professional attention.

Cant make the auto threader work on an elna 2007

Do you mean the auto needle threader?

Mine won't work on very small needle sizes so I resort to the old manual needle threader for these. Ditto for twin needles.

Otherwise its a case of pulling the auto threader down so the hook swings into the needle eye, then pulling the thread over the face of the needle and catching it into the hook, then release the threader so it pulls back through the needle eye, taking the thread with it.

The only other thing that springs to mind is "is the needle at the top position in its stich cycle so that the threader lines up with the needle eye?

hope these ideas help a little.

Having trouble threading the needle, thread keeps

You might have either a tension problem or a bent needle. Try replacing the needle and then re-thread the whole thing and see if that helps. The majority of the time when I am having thread-breaking issues, once I replace and rethread, it is fixed. Hope this helps.

How do i thread the handy stitch sewing machine

Its easier to use the included threader from Japan its the key shaped thing, put the thin wire loop in at the front of the needle then put the thread through the loop at the back and then pull thorugh you will need to make sure at least 2 inches of thread is flying.

N.B.. Make sure that the thread is through the tensioner otherwise your stitches will be loose.

Juki HZL-E61: cannot get tension right on straight stitch

Loops on the bottom of the fabric direct the problem to the top thread. Rethread again and make sure the thread goes through the tension discs. Lift the foot, because this is what opens the discs. When sewing and the foot is down, the discs should be closed and thus giving the upper thread the tension it needs.
