SOURCE: Need Windows XP Service Pack 3 kstvtune.ax

Got a web camera. Didn't work. Said, I needed "kstvtune.ax" and a couple other small files. Couldn't find them anywhere, or downloadable versions. Listened to a lot of advice on blogs. Nothing worked. Finally, I went to the Microsoft Website and downloaded Service pack 3 AGAIN for Windows XP, from scratch. Takes time to download, even at high speed, but it's worth it. First try my camera worked beautifully. THIS IS THE FREE FIX THAT REALLY WORKS! It will get you all the files you need, which may have been knocked off by virus scans, or whatever caused the lack of files for your web camera. Go do it!

Crystal:

try the following steps in this order

1. try to reinstall directX, (do it in safe mode to ensure the installation is clear and simple)

2. as per a dude name kirk: When the install comes up requesting this file, you will want to open a file search for it on your C: drive. Remember to make sure that under the advanced search options you enable searching of hidden files and system files. At least one copy will come up, and it should be in an i386/cab folder or something to that effect. When you see the file in the search, right click it and then select "extract" from the menu. Extract the file to your desktop or to a documents folder whose path you can navigate to easily.

Once you have the file extracted from your cab folder, give the path you extracted it to when the computer asks where to find the file. You should then be able to install the freshly extracted version of it.

3. if you didn't find the file (or files as it may requests more than one file) this is a link with a zip file that has the file you're looking for and other possible files requested (download and extract accordingly):
http://members.driverguide.com/driver/detail.php?driverid=29044

4. you may also want to get a windows xp sp2 cd and look for the file in the installation files (look inside cab files as the files may be packaged)

let us know how it went
