I have the same problem, but I got round it instantly by plugging my ipod into the speaker via the headphone port on the ipod and into the audio port on the speaker. The speaker came with a spare lead as you can plug any music player into it this way. The sound quality seems exactly the same and I dont have to throw away the speakers, hooray! If you have lost the lead you need a 3.5 mm male to male headphone lead, just pence in any electrical shop or amazon!

If you peel back the rubber cushioning on the base of the dock you will see several screws to access the main housing of the unit.
Take it from there.

A bit like everything that goes wrong with the Radial... it as not been made to be repaired unfortunately.
Mine broke down also, after an accident with water... i'm considering putting some money apart to buy a BW Mini Zeppelin Instead. A bit more expensive but far more serviceable in the occasion of something going wrong in the future... great sound too... no so chubby fat bass like the big Zeppellin

SOURCE: JBL Radial Remote stopped working.New battery replaced no avail.

Turn on the JBL with the ipod in place, turn off at the mains plug, turn back on, turn on your JBL and the remote should work.

No picture on television when connecting s-video outlet from JBL radial and showing a film or pictures on a docked i-pod touch.

Hi, I have this problem and when I spoke to JBL techical support they told me that Apple have changed their software on the New Nano and the ipod touch and of course the iphone and regrettably the radial does not support S video for these products. I'm told it will work with first generation ipod classics. PS: i had to carefully cut off some of the plastic plug to make sure the connection goes all the way into the back of the radial

Jbl radial micro - how to open up?

I have a two JBL radial and stage micro, both with the same loose connection problem after two years. The stage micro was simpler to open and it was necessary just to re-soldering the connector. Now, it is working great. Regarding the Radial, this is another history… as explained in this forum, everything is glued. I was unable to access the circuit board following the explanation posted by other persons. In fact, the plastic cover with the JBL printed logo is glued and also has two screws. Unfortunately, you will need a good time, some hours in fact, to open the Radial. The best way is remove the back mesh screen. You will need a hair dryer to soft the glue and using a small screwdriver you will need to pull out carefully all the screen. From there, you will be able to access the screws. It will be necessary to unscrew and unglue different parts if you don’t want to scratch the Radial body.

My jbl radial, when using a 120 gig ipod, will skip songs.

Not a solution but mine sometimes causes my ipod to skip mid-song to the next song or podcast as well. JBL customer service is usually good and I've been meaning to check with them since I finally figured out it's the radial and not my ipod.

How can I disassemble a Radial I-pod docking station. The connector is broken, I have the bottom section removed, but I cannot find the hidden screws/compartment.My guess is they are under the metal mesh.

hiya, i just had the same problem, where as my ipod dock connector didnt work, so i took it to the shop where i bought it and they said it wasnt repairable,, not taking this as an answer i went over to a mates house who is a lecky and asked him to repair it,,, we then come onto the snag of not being able to open it to get to the fault to solve this we got a bit mad at it and accidently dropped it on the floor :P where the 2 mesh panels came off showing over 20 new screws yes i said 20!!!! all that was holding the mesh was a lot!!!!! of glue..... after we took the many screws out we found out the reason why the shop said it wasnt repairable.... the manufacturer has put loads and loads of glue on everything stopping anyone from removing any of the connectors... we spent a good hour trying to remove the silly amount of glue but to no avail...
So if i was you i would bin it and get a new one...

How to open the jbl radial micro speaker set?

Bit late! Just remove the four rubber feet underneath (self adhesive). Take out the four philips screws. It's a bit of a mess inside - you'll have to remove the connectors and some screws to get to the i-pod connector. You dont need to remove the button pcbs just the main board. The i-pod connector pcb is on the end of the grey ribbon cable connected to the main board (the button end of the unit).

I-pod connector came off

this connector is available complete with pcb from jbl service center. But radial is very difficult to open. You need to open the mesh with a hair dryer, because it is heavely glued with hot glue on the borders.you will find screws inside. And also from the bottom & sides you have to remove this decorative strip.
it is very time consuming & headache.
i have myself replaced five of this docking sockets,it will take minimum of two to three hours to do this
