My Cossor CR 1604 (also 1962 vintage) has just died on me.

Previously the fast-forward band had snapped, but everything else has been working fairly OK.

But now I cannot get sound through the internal speaker or external speaker connections (after some bad noises over the past year that up till now had been stopped by the time-honoured remedy of (gently) hitting the machine!).

Is this a terminal condition or repairable? If latter, anyone available in the North East of England?

Thanks for your email, but this was not meant to be a Sony Walkman problem, as my subject 'Cossor CR 1604' indicates. I must have misunderstood how your website works. Maybe I should give up now before I cause further confusion. Tony.

SOURCE: Connecting SRS-BTM30 bluetooth speakers to my vista laptop

Hi,
This has also been sending me around the bend. I resolved it by disabling the speakers on my laptop. To do this go into control panel, then hardware and sound, then change system sound. Select your speakers and disable them. This allowed me to play music through the speakers. You can also re-enable the laptop speakers after this.

I have a eur7711150 remote for a panasonic radio that was my dads.. i cant figure out how to change channels on the radio.. hate to sound so stupid but there doesnt seem to be a tuner or a seek button

The EUR7711150 remote works for several different Panasonic CD stereo systems. To switch between AM and FM, press the Tuner/Band button. (If you were in another mode, you'll need to press the Tuner/Band button once to get to the Tuner mode and then toggle if needed.) Then if you press Play Mode (above Repeat to the left of the number keys), you can toggle between Preset and Manual. In Preset, the rewind and fast forward buttons select between your preset stations. Alternatively, you can set the presets to numerical values and touch the appropriate number button. (Touch the >=10 button first to access Memories 10-15.) If you are on Manual, the rewind and fast forward buttons will let you move up and down between the frequencies. Pressing and holding Rewind or Fast Forward for a moment will let the radio scan to the next frequency in that direction with a signal.

The CD button enables the CD or MP3 disc player mode. AUX and Tape are for external audio devices and cassette tape mode, respectively.

These comments are based on using the remote with the Panasonic SA-PM19. Please add a comment with the specific model of your Panasonic radio if you need additional assistance.

I hope this helps.

Microcassette won't play but does rewind and fast forward

I have the 3 of these units at my office with the exact same problem. Turns out, with a little tinkering there is a simple fix.

Open up the unit (by unscrewing the two screws underneath) and look for a brass disk with a black rubber band around it that connects to a small tip. The rubber band should be either stretched, broken, or even melted. This is the problem. Over time the rubber band deteriorates which causes the unit to not play a tape (rewind and fast forward operate differently).

Replace the deteriorated rubber band with a new one similar in thickness and size. That should work like a charm. Be careful if the original rubber band has melted. It is tar-like and will be difficult to remove.

Hope this helps.

Tape has line of interference through it. If i fast forward and start again the band of interference adds another band, i have 4 bands now. tried tracking button. won't completely fix. other tapes are okay

Your VCR may need to be cleaned by a cleaning tape or your tape may be permanently damaged. Purchase a tape cleaner through your local retail or electronics specialty store. Good luck to you!

The carriage stuck and I found this band with hole in both ends hanging loose. I need to know how to reconnect this band so printer will work. I cant see where this connects

You can reattach this band yourself. There are two springy hooks on each side of the printer. They are slanted so that you can position the band with the right side forward.
The band engages in a slot in the cartridge carriage, you have to slide it through. I don’t know whether you can fix the band on the right without taking off the cover of the printer. If you must, then follow the procedure:
1. Open the top cover and unscrew the two screws you find there.
2. Open the back of the printer, locate the two release latches left and right press them and lift the back a couple of millimeters (1/8”)
3. Through the top opening locate the two front latches (plastic tongues) release them by putting a screwdriver blade in the catch and pressing forward.
4. Pull the cover gently there are cables attached to it…
