I have a Phillips 32pw8759, approximately 4 years old. I have been running a Wharfedale DV832B Set Top Box with the TV for about 2 years with no problems. Recently I switched the TV off & when I switched it back on 0.5hr later the TV screen was blank as if switched off. The set top box would also not change channels manually or by remote control (Batteries ok). I removed the set top box & connected the Arial directly to the TV with no change, I also connected and played the video recorder directly into the TV alternating between scart socket 1 & 2 again no change to the screen.
I then connected the set top box to a portable TV & when switched on the TV screen went blank the same effect as the TV however when the box was switched off the TV picture returned.
Based on the above I am assuming the set top box is faulty & requires replacing however do you think it has damage the TV or is there something I can do for example activate a switch to re-set the TV back to the default factory settings?
Your advice would be appreciated.
Steve
There might have been a power surge that had damaged the two units. For the reset, having the tv unplugged overnight should do it. If it does not work you may want to check the power supply of the tv for leaking capacitors or burned resistors or loose solders.
