I have a Samsung DVD-R155. When I insert a DVD, the screen reads "load", but eventually it screen will say it can't read the DVD, and then ejects the DVD. It doesn' t matter if it is a new or used DVD. I have the same problem, insert new dvd-r disc and it says loading then spits the disc back out with a "disc cannot be read" message

The gears are jammed, or the timing gear is out sync, or a bad loading belt, plus in rare cases, the gears crack or break.

get a laser lens cleaning disk .($2 to $10) . it looks like a standard CD but has fine little burshes that remove dust from the laser ...that may not work if anyone smokes around the machne .. in that case the cover has to be removed and the laser manually cleaned (with eye glass cleaning fluid on a soft paper towell) ..if that doesnt work then the laser may be just worn out ... replacement is usually more than the cost of a new unit ... make sure your disks are clean .. you can wash the shiney side with mild soap and water ... rince and pat dry .. dont use hot water ...

2. Press and hold Play and Stop for 5 seconds then release
3. Press menu
4. enter code for current region as above i.e if you have a region 4 type: 7, 6, 8, 8, 4
5. The region is displayed in the top right.
6. You have about 5 seconds to enter the new region (1,2,3,4,5,6 or 9 for multiregional)


Region codes for Samsung:

RC 1: 2, 9, 3, 3, 4
RC 2: 3, 8, 7, 6, 7 (or 5, 7, 5, 3, 8)
RC 3: 5, 6, 7, 3, 2
RC 4: 7, 6, 8, 8, 4
RC 5: 5, 3, 8, 1, 4
RC 6: 2, 4, 4, 6, 2

When a unit does that it can be a fingerprints on a disc not letting it read the disc and or also that it is not finalized. Can also be a disc format that does not work on unit. Some units only work with either -R or +R and not both. Hope this helps

Sounds like a bad pick up assy (Laser)

Some DVD players requires installation of software to load some DVD's. Ask your dealer to provide you with a Software CD. Just insert this software CD and then try to run DVD it will work...

So you mean each time you insert the disc it ejects automatically?or you have a problem reading with the disc?

just try to load the dvd disc.and see if it is reading..

We once had 2 DVDs in the tray (thanks, kids). The tray would not open and had similar symptoms.

We eventually pulled/pried-open the tray (while it was attempting to open by itself, aka you could hear the try motor was activating.)

I'm sure a tech would cringe at this, but it did eventually pop open (with our aggressive help) - and all is well.

Had a similar problem after loading a suspect dvd (one I had burned myself) Could not do anything - stuck at loading. Don't remember if the fan was running. From what I have read these units are touchy to bad disks (DVD or HDD) If yours has a DVD inserted try this :

1. Unplug and wait 10 seconds
2. plug it back in and wait 1 minute. DO NOT PRESS ANY BUTTONS!
3. With the machine still in the standby state, press eject on the REMOTE. It should eject without trying to read the disk.
