It is probably not your phone but your carrier. Contact them and complain!!
Sometime updating the "roaming feature" will help.
Here is the info for Verizon, but many other carriers are similar:
Hope this helps. J
Updating Preferred Roaming List(PRL)
Verizon Wireless is constantly advancing its roaming technology to provide you with superior roaming capabilities. By updating your PRL every few weeks, you can be sure you have access to our enhancements. As a result you may experience:
Longer battery life
Fewer dropped or blocked calls
Clear, crisp connections in more areas across the United States
Ability to connect to the digital network in more parts of the country
Instructions for updating your PRL:
Power on your phone within any Verizon Wireless digital service area.
Dial *228 and then press SEND (this call is airtime free).
When prompted, press option 2 to update your phone's roaming capabilities
(the update may take up to 2 minutes).
Once completed, a confirmation message will appear to inform you that your phone has been re-programmed with the new PRL.
Dial *228 and push "Send" to complete the call to the activation service. A screen will appear over the call timer that says "Programming in Progress..." and you should hear a voice recording say, "Welcome to Verizon Wireless Over-The-Air Programming."
Press 1 for initial programming. This option is used if the phone has been deactivated or is being activated for the first time.
Press 2 to update roaming information and to download a free software upgrade to enable better roaming coverage. Pressing 2 and choosing this option will assign your phone to another tower that should enable better reception, especially when roaming
Try to turn it off and on. In the summer no was texting me until my phone died. Then I turned it back on and receive messages. If not that try to update your roaming capabilities or contact your provider.
Your phone service provider is sending a signal on your phone line that is activating the message waiting on your phone. Likewise the beep-beep-beep you hear is called stutter dail tone which is sent by your phone service provider to indicate that you have a message in voicemail for phones that do not have message waiting or message waiting light ability. To cancel the message indicators, you'll need to call your phone service provider customer support and have them disable voicemail. Nowadays, voicemail service is often automatically added by service providers, especailly if you have recently changed service providers or your service provider has upgraded their switch equipment.
you can press and dial 1, or 123. this wont work if your're roaming you can also try dialing the voicemail directlly at 805 message. i hope this helps!!

Thanking you...........
Look in the manual about the voicemail indicator. It may need certain services not available in all areas. Ask your phone provider if that is the case. Mainly, your phone has a voicemail. so dialing 1-800-VOICEMAIL is different that pressing the message play button locally on the machine. If you dial a phone number to check your messages, that is the problem. The messages are on your phone, and/or your voicemail service. If you have a dial in voice mailbox, disable the built in voicemail on the phone. email me [email protected] if you need a link to the online manual or any other help
