Check the water water supply at the water inlet valve. Remove the supply hoses and check that the small screens in the inlet valve are not clogged with rust or debris. The water inlet valve solenoids can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty solenoid and the water inlet valve will need to be replaced. I am attaching a photo for reference. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Chances are the fill solenoid valve has failed and will have to be replaced.
But before replacing any parts, make sure there is a working water supply to the machine and the water inlet screen is not plugged.
Turn the hot and cold water valves off at the washer. Unscrew the water feed line hoses from the washing machine. Using a mop bucket to catch water, turn the cold water valve on to verify water flow, repeat for hot water, turn off water when verified. Then, using a flashlight, look inside the water hose connection on the washing machine.
Check for rust and debris plugging the screens in the machines water inlet. Remove the screens and clean if necessary.
If the water supply appears good, you will want to start checking the water fill valve.
Let me know if I need to go further.
Regards,

When i close lid it just makes humming noise and wont start

If washer hums but doesn't fill, water isn't getting to washer check screens where fill hoses connect to washer. Screens may be blocked. If washer fills then hums check to make sure belt is on. Tip machine up to view belt underneath.

NFW7200TW hums and does not turn or fill with water

if it doesn't fill the water valve will hum, first thing is to see if it's a problem with the house water valve or the washer valve, shut off the water supply, reomve the water hoses from the back of washer, mark the hoses so they go back on the same way, stick the hoses into the washer or a bucket and turn the water on,if water comes out of hoses then you know the problem is just the washer, check the valve, look at the screens where the hoses connect to the valve, usually sediment gets in there and the valve on the washer has to be replaced,on some the screens can be removed and cleaned, also you say you have trouble with the lock, what's humming is it the lock or the valve,if you turn it to drain and spin will it run?you could have a bad door switch,if door doesn't latch washer won't run but most likely bad water valve

Have a whirlpool washer that now hums when I turn the cycle on, no water just a hum

I had a similar problem - had to get a technician out - there was a valve at the back of the machine that allows the machine to fill. It had split (apparently its a common problem? there are separate valves for hot and cold water, so I'm not sure if using a different cycle choice (ie cold only), may let the machine fill?). 10 minute fix job

Cabrio top loader that hums initially when a load starts. i beleve this is during the water in cycle time but not sure. no error codes displayed. Washer works fine otherwise. any ideas???

Yes that sounds right a hum would be at start of cycle if water flow into was restricted in some manner and washer wasnt filling. What your is the hum the water valve makes when is calling for water yet no water from hoses coming to it.
The things to check are for blocked filter screens inside of ends of water valve on back where hoses attach to.
If you have :AQUAFLOW" brand hoses the internal stopper is hose is bad and hose should be replaced using standard hoses

Also for water coming from house pluming where hoses connect to at wall/faucet/spigot

Even humming sound made when washer starts continous

Most likely a motor or solenoid has a loose coil or its magnetic field is vibrating a nearby piece of steel. If it hums all of the time except when the washer is filling, it is the timer or main motor. If it hums only when the washer is filling, it is one of the water valves (you can isolate by selecting hot or cold instead of warm for one of the cycles).

The timer motor is on the control panel right behind the cycle select knob. The main motor is under the tub. If the main motor is humming, it may be overloaded, but in that case, the humming should diminish as the motor gets up to speed.

NO WATER OR SPARADIC WATER

Hi, Does the cold water valve hum when you start the washer? Put settings on cold and start washer. If the valve hums, remove the hose and check to see if there is sand or rust plugging the screen (DO NOT remove the screen) Just scrap it or flush it with the cold water hose. If the valve does not hum, you will need to change the mixer iblet valve. Please let me know if I can assist you further or order you the part you need.

Thanks

Kenmore front-load washer stops at rinse cycle

When the washer initially fills for the wash, is it only hot water entering the drum? Try switching the water temperature between hot and cold as it fills. If any of them show little or no water getting through, it sounds too easy but check to make sure water supply taps are on, and that the cold/hot fill hoses aren't reversed. Remove the fill hoses and check any of the screen filters for blockage (in the hoses and in the inlet water valve). When the machine stops and waits to fill but all you hear is a hum, it sounds like there is power going to the valve but water is not able to get through it.
Good luck!

yes i have a roper ras6233kg top load washer. I have not had any problem with it until about Two weeks ago, it over filled and it would only make a hummuing sound. Now it has dried out and have been working beautifully. Then Three days ago it stopped agitating, will not spin only making a loud humming noise. I guess its time to get another one.
