The belt will have to be replaced. There is no adjustment, per se. There is a belt tensioner that keeps the appropriate tension on the belt. It can be checked when the belt is replaced to see if it's failure caused the belt problem, but it may just be a belt that has failed and needs replaced because of age or structural breakdown.. Hope this helped and best wishes.

WASHER MAKES A LOUD METALLIC SOUND IT Starts and when gose it cycles it. It is a Maytag Bravo X Model MVWX00XL, is it the belt? and can it be adjusted?

Belt won't make a metallic sound. A pulley can if it has a bad bearing or is rubbing against metal. Probably only two screws holding front panel on so have a look inside. On my 1996 Maytag moving the pump after loosening 3 screws adjusts both belts.

On my Sears ProForm 730 treadmill, I cannot make the belt move to the right (it is rubbing on the left side) by turning the left-side back belt screw clockwise (in any amount). The belt is walking back...

The belt does not need to be replaced more than likely. The problem is probably because that adjustment bolt is stripped out causing it loosen and keeping it over on that side. ProForm sells star washers that help them stay steady and not slip out. I would call them and ask for a couple of star washers and a new adjustment bolt for that left side.

you can looses this and swing the motor
make sure you have it lined up on the motor shaft and it should stay aligned on the pully

I have a different suggestion based on my washer's similar problem. If the black stuff is powdery and localized at the back of the unit, more than likely the culprit is the drum pulley itself is warped, causing the belt to chafe against the drum. The black powder is rubber residue from the scraping of belt on plastic. No need to replace unit. New belt and new pulley run about $70 each.

Squeak on wash cycle

Try some anti-sqeek stuff on the belt, or just rub some soap on the belt.
