Try this. Hold down the 1 button and the plus and minus button at the same time for about 5 seconds. You should see all the lights light up and the screen will go into reboot and display the model and whatnot. After that see if it comes on by pressing start
That's probably a good way to deal with most error codes on the Pentax pump. This seems to have cleared the communication issue. Thanks!

E020-0021will not reset after the machine is powered off and on. Replacing the Drum and the ATR Sensor did not clear the error.
Workaround :
In this case cleaning the Dust Proof Glass fixed the error.Check the Dust Proof Glass for soiling.The glass is located under each unit and may have toner spilled on it. Clean the glass with the tool provided on the front door. Instruction's are also included there.

These pumps should not be hooked into an intermatic mechanical timer. It should always have power supplied to it, meaning it should be installed to the line side of the power supply. Scheduling is done either in pump itself or thru an external controller such as a suntouch or easytouch controller, etc. When you have it wired into a timer like intermatic, power is interupted to the pump every day when the timer setting is for off. It is very hard on the drive of this pump, it does not like it, and will shorten the life of the drive. The pump was designed to always have power supplied to it, even when it is not scheduled to run. This may be the problem you are experiencing. HTH

The back against the motor or against the strainer basket housing?

If leak is on the back of the housing - shaft seal. Or if the leak is on the front the replace O-Rings #10 or #23 in diagram.

I f pushing the mode button does not work ,most likely is a bad touch pad,
sun touch is kinda outdated you should chek out the new easy touch lite set up its a econimical way to up grade and it will give you more user friendly features,

There should be a metalized sticker, with a bar code, on the front of the pump, opposite the motor.
