Look for a switch that turns on the wireless device. Also check in the connection manager if the device is active and the wireless adapter is within range.

1. Try connecting on another PC. If you connect then next.....
2. Check the wireless card or network adapter in the properties. There should be a "repair connection screen that will popup click "repair connection"
this will check the connection to the wireless card and cause a ipconfig release and renew connection. next if this doesn't work
3. check your network id see if you mistyped the password that is if you have WEP enabled.
4. check if bluetooth or cell phone is interfering with the connection
5.check the wireless router to see if it is pluggen in properly.
6. Disconnect router for a minute then plug power to again and try the connection.
7. Call the ISP (internet service provider) to check their side of the connection and verify connection.

Wlan card disabled

The Dell Latitude E6400 laptop comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor for fast computing and an NVIDIA graphics card for video playback, gaming and Web browsing. The laptop has a built in Wi-Fi card, letting you connect to the Internet on-the-go. However, if you're unfamiliar with Dell or the laptop's factory installed Windows Vista operating system, you might not know how to enable to Wi-Fi.

Slide the switch on the side of the laptop toward the front of the laptop. This switch enables Wi-Fi connectivity on the Dell Latitude E6400. When switched into the back position, the Wi-Fi is turned off. Turn on your Dell Latitude E6400 laptop and log into Windows Vista. Click on the Windows "Start" button. Click on "Wireless," located in the Start menu's "Show" list. A list of currently broadcasting wireless networks appears on screen. With your Wi-Fi enabled, you can connect to any of these available networks. Secured networks ask you for a password when you click "Connect," while unsecured networks connect automatically.

I am not able to turn on my wifi connection in Dell Latitude E6400

One of the "F" keys on your laptop has a wireless tower icon on it (looks like a straight verital line with commas on either side). Press that key without holding down the "fn" key and your wireless should activate.
