How do I check the ink level of my HP Officejet 6300 series?

ideally diagnostics should return the info about ink levels.
but in case they dont you can try below
1. Hp Solution Center > Settings > print settings > printer toolbox > Estimated Ink level

2. go to control panel->printers->go to priinter properties it should show ink levels

Checking ink levels

1. open HP solution center on the computer desktop screen
2. click on settings on the bottom
3. click printer toolbox
4. click the estimated ink levels tab

or

1. on the printer control panel,push the wrench button
2. press the right arrow to go to print report
3. push OK
4. select self test
5. push OK

It will print a page with color bars signifying correct ink levels.If a color bar is blank it means it's empty or depleted and needs to be replaced

you can check ink levels on printer diplay by pushing setup button ( ) then go to print report,select printer status report,press ok.it will print a page with colored bars that represent the ink levels in the corresponding cartridge.this is the most reliable way of checking remaining ink level on the printer.

The icons represent the ink level remaining in each of the four color ink cartridges: black, yellow, light cyan (blue), and light magenta (pink). A larger and more accurate view of the ink levels can be displayed from the Setup menu. If an ink cartridge containing non-HP ink is being used, a question mark displays instead of the ink drop in the icon for that cartridge. The HP All-in-One cannot detect the amount of ink remaining in ink cartridges that contain non-HP ink. Figure 1: Non-HP ink icon NOTE: HP cannot guarantee the quality or reliability of non-HP ink. Printer service or repairs required as a result of printer failure or damage attributable to the use of non-HP ink will not be covered under warranty. You might be able to continue printing for a short period of time with ink remaining in the print head assembly. Replace the ink cartridge when the Replace Soon warning message displays on the color graphics display. Figure 2: Low ink level icon When the Empty Ink message appears on the color graphics display, the indicated ink cartridge is out of ink. Replace the indicated ink cartridge. Method two: Check ink levels from the Windows computer The estimated amount of ink remaining in the ink cartridges can be checked from the computer. Method three: Check ink levels from the Setup menu

1. Press Setup on the printer control panel.
2. Scroll down and select Display Ink Gauge . The Ink Gauge status from the Tools menu will only display on the color graphics display.

If the ink level is low and the cartridge is new please contact the dealer from whom you got the cartridge and if it shows that the ink level is good enough please comment so that i can give you another step to perform

Click "display ink levels".

Some of the software that you installed from the HP CD-ROM was a "Printer Assistant". Start it, and click "Utilities", and click "show ink levels".

Follow these instructions

Open HP Solution Center.

• Windows XP : On the Windows taskbar, click Start , click All Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
• Windows Vista : On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
• Windows 7 : Click the Windows icon ( ), click Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .

Click Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox .

Click the Device Services tab, and then click the Estimated Ink Levels tab.

Checking ink levelsUse one of the following methods to check the ink levels. Method one: Check the ink levels from the HP All-in-One The ink level is displayed on the main screen of the control panel display. Locate the two icons that represent the print cartridges. The icon on the left is for the color cartridge and the icon on the right is for the black cartridge.

• The exclamation mark (! ) symbol indicates a low ink level.
• The question mark (? ) symbol indicates the product cannot determine the status of the print cartridge. This might be because the cartridge is refilled.

1. Make sure the product is on and connected to the computer.
2. Open HP Solution Center .
• Windows XP: On the Windows taskbar, click Start , click All Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
• Windows Vista: On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), click All Programs , click HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
• Windows 2000: On the Windows taskbar, click Start , click Programs , point to HP , and then click HP Solution Center .
3. Click Settings .
4. Point to Print Settings , and then click Printer Toolbox . Printer Toolbox opens.
5. Check the ink levels displayed on the Estimated Ink Levels tab.

Check the ink level present in the color cartridge and check whether you have enabled print in grayscale option in HP Director, please disable the option and try to print, if the issue persists replace the color cartridge.
