Game cube won't read me discs

The scratch that you are describing is the reason the will not work any longer. There is nothing you can do to fix the scratch. Unfortunately the data contained in the area of the disc that is scratched is vital to gameplay so you will no longer be able to play the game.

The best thing you could do is take it to your nearest Gamestop and have them use their cleaning machine on the disc, you might get lucky and have it fixed this way, although it is highly unlikely.

Assuming it's a GameCube game, that means there is either an error in the code on the disc, or the disc may be damaged. Take it back to the store you purchased it from, with receipt in hand, and exchange it. If other games work properly then it's the disc that's the problem. The manual wouldn't help you.

Check the bottom of the Game Disc (the side without any labels or writing) for any dirt or damage (such as cracks, scratches, etc.).

If the games look significantly damaged, such as with scratches or cracks, it will need to be replaced.

Check to see if there are any scratches on the disc. Scratches or marks on discs will render game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating "Disc Read Error" or something to that effect. With some scratched discs, the data cannot be read and the game console may not even recognize the discs at all, giving you error messages etc. Best remedy for starters, is to try clean the discs and make sure there are no smudges or dirt marks left on the play-side of the discs. Well if the disc's are severly scratched so the console has a hard times reading the disc's if they are scratched then.

The most common reason for the games not reading discs is a bad drive. The following website sells the drives and does installs:

There is only one recommendation I can think of but it may damage the disc forever so do it at your own risk. With that said I have done this with about a 50% success rate.
