The drill has vents to cool itself and sometimes small pieces fall in aroung the brushes of the motor. Try high pressure air from a compressor...Dont forget to protect your eyes first as these pieces of metal/dirt are very small. If this does not fix it lube the bearings. moisture causes the shaft to rust and the brass bearing to corrode.

Finding Max 18 volt charger?

18 volt battery charger will give out 20 to 22 volts. and drop off while charging. to around 19 volts. its just finding the right amps. as this is the most important part. these can very from 3 to 20 amps. some cheap chargers are 1 or 2 amps and can take up to 8 hrs to charge a battery. as an even a charger that says 18 volts at 8 amps or 6 amps should be fine. really depends on the manufacture setup.

I can't get the chuck to work or open to change the drill bit. I have really tried!

Hi Alice:
Is this a "key"? If so, put it in place with the drill pointing up and the key handle pointing level and towards you. A light tap with a hammer on the key handle should loosen it.
If it is a "manual grip", try putting the drill in reverse, and at low speed. Hold the drill handle with your right hand, and hold the grip firmly (really firmly) with your left hand, and squeeze the trigger. It should release the chuck. If it doesn't, try putting a pipe wrench on the grip.... gun facing away from you, wrench from the top, handle on right. gently tap on the wrench handle should loosen it.
Cheers.

I have a mastercraft industrial reversible drill. Model number 1540. Looking for a replacement handle with the power trigger and reverse switch. Anyone know where I can get replacement parts?

this picture of the drill is familiar or similar to a "skill" made drill
talk with a service agent for skill, B&D woulf machines and you may get a cross match or even a handle from a failed drill

Where can I get a handle for a Carlsbro Cobra 90 amp?

It really depends which version handle you need but look through ebay or alibaba for replacement luggage handles as a starting point and find a style that looks like it will fit your amp and then drill down from there.

Battery smokes gets very hot

Dose this happen with all batterys or just one battery . If its one the battery is no good. If this all batterys you try to use then there is a short in the motor in the gun likely in the windings and it was defective when you bought it. check your warranty

When I was useing it to put in a long lag bolt,it starting slowing down at the vary end, finally it got hot and I heard a loud popping noise and the handle part of the drill got hot and smoked a little...

The drive motor and/or battery pack overheated and blew open a circuit. The only "repair" would be to replace which part(s) failed or replace the entire tool.

I bought a new highter current ni cad for my makita; however, the

As long as the charger voltage and the battery voltage match (7 volts) there should be no problem. A fast charger just runs more current thru the battery (per unit time) than a not-so-fast charger. If you notice the battery getting really hot when it's charging (like too hot to touch), stop using it.
