I have a UNIDEN UH5060 (9 months old) My transmission is garbled when I am about 1km away. If I am within meters of the receiver, transmission is fine. Any clue. VSWR is 1.1 and power output is 5W.

If you get clear audio when close to the receiver, it would appear to be a problem in either the antenna or the receiver. Try a different antenna or relocate the antenna. If you adjusted the VSWR low it doesn't mean the power is radiating correctly. Verticals should be on roof, with roof as ground plane. Mounting on mirrors is ok, but doesn't work as well. Also, if you have sheet metal near the antenna, it acts as a ground reflector and can distort or block the waveform. You might also try it with a different receiver, in case yours has a faulty pre-amp stage. It could also be a power amplifier problem in the transmitter, where it shows 5 watts but isn't putting out that amount. You can check it with an RF watt meter.

SOURCE: Yamaha RX V 657 - No Sound Output, and No input detection

Bad DSP chip. The only other possibility is if you have the "Direct" on. On the front of the receiver it's a small button. Also make sure your "Speaker Select" A/B is "on" You will see it on the display, it's also a small button on the front of the receiver. If all this is correct and you still have no audio, it's a bad DSP chip. Not worth repair, it's 400-500 repair. Not very common in a Yamaha RX-V series, but I have seen it. I'm a Yamaha Dealer. If you need further help, post a comment and I will be glad to help you further.

My uniden ltd 715 receives from my handheld but when I transmit to handheld it just buzzes.

Just to clarify something, you say that your hand-held VHF can receive a clear transmission from the Uniden, now which of the radios are buzzing, the Uniden or the HH?. If it's the hand-held buzzing try transmitting on the low watt on the Uniden, get some distance from the radio, because if the hand-held are to close to the on the Uniden on high watt you will get a buzzing, the signal are overpowering the receiver of the hand-held, try getting the minimum of 30 feet away. Good luck.

No dial tone on Uniden Dect 6.0 land line and portable phone

We've had the same problem with our new Uniden phone. Sounds like someone's on the other line - no dial tone and answering machine doesn't work. The telephone line works though because we plugged our old phone in and it works fine. Any solutions anyone?

To connect a unit with a computer 1km away..

There are easier ways of doing this. If you simply want to extend the length of the Cat 5-e cable they make simple connectors which do so. You must make sure the cable is a STRAIGHT SHOT cable and not a crossover cable though. A wire tester would work to look at the configuration but you can look very closely to the color coordination inside the connector and figure out which configuration the cable is. If the colors are int he same order on both sides then you have a straight shot cable.

Vhf radio

If there is power output, you need to use a watt meter and verify that your antenna is good. Depending on the antenna you can also check for a shorted or open connector or cable with an ohm meter.

Hope that helps...
