*release de equipment
*put on 22 awg copper cable in the main chip on upper right pin and touch softly the + pole of a 3V batery.
tested in a garmin nuvi 780

The security location / pin # is so that someone cannot access the unit if it is stolen. When you first set up a pin # it tells you that the location you are at is your security location. Are you sure you want to do this now? and also informs you that if you forget your pin # you can return to the security location to unlock the unit. At that point you could easily reset the pin # or disable the security feature entirely. If the unit you have is stolen you are SOL you might as well send it back to garmin and if the origonal owner registered the unit like they were supposed to it will get back to them. Otherwise you did not pay enough attention to the instructions that were given to you at the time and you need to send it to garmin for unlocking. Good luck on that and I hope that they dont charge you for that service.

The only way to unlock a PIN locked Garmin is to enter the correct PIN number or take the unit to the location at which the PIN was set. Your only other option is to send the unit back to Garmin.

I can unlock it for 40$.
There is a guy on eBay that will unlock Garmin units for a few bucks. As far as I know he is the only one ableto do it. Search on eBay for "Garmin pin unlocking"

Try to look for the reset button. You can then put the pin in again without doing the secure location.

Surely, you can remember where you were when you set the pin code, just return there and it will unlock itself.
