You have to take the cartridge apart; usually a few screws. Be careful not to touch the glass face of the new lamp with your hand. You will find usually two connections on the lamp: one at the end that usually has a nut and lock washer--do not over tighten when you reattach. the other is on the side of the lamp and usually is a machine screw with a lock washer---I usually use a needle nose pliers to tighten the nut and a philips type screwdriver to tighten the side screw----note which of the two wires is which and usually one is longer than the other. As you take the cartridge apart note where the screws that close it go and how it slides apart. You should know generic bulbs usually do not last as long as original lamps--they cost less but you are always taking a chance----The reason you do not want to touch the face of the bulb is it is like a halogen unit---oil from your hand will cause it to fail---if you attempt to clean it use a lens cloth for a camera--best way is to avoid touching it at all----Last: you also need to be careful about the 2 wire plug when you take it apart and put it back together-If you do not assemble it correctly it may not plug back into the set--take your time---this kind of job usually only takes about 10 minutes. Samsung DLP R&R Color wheel Model #HLR5078w

Samsung's digital light projection (DLP) televisions use a spinning color wheel to create the colors that are seen on the screen. If the color wheel becomes misaligned during use, it will become damaged and have to be replaced. Replacing the color wheel on a Samsung DLP television can be done at home, once a compatible-sized color wheel has been bought from a TV supply store.Replacing the color wheel yourself will void any Samsung warranty that might be in place, but is the only solution for getting the TV working again in as short a time as possible.
Put on the anti-static grounding strap to keep static electricity from damaging the internal components of the Samsung DLP TV. Turn the Samsung around so that the back is facing you. Make sure the Samsung is unplugged from the AC socket.
2
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove all of the screws from the back panel. Put the screws aside. Pull off the back panel.
3
Loosen the two screws from each side of the projection bulb's case. Pull the projection bulb out. Put the projection bulb aside. Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the two screws from the left side panel. Pull the side panel and the circuit board attached to it out carefully and put it down so that the cables attached to it have not been pulled out.
4
Take a picture of the power cable's position with the digital camera so that you can put it back correctly later. Pull the power cable out from inside of the Samsung's case so that the center panel is free to be pulled out. Remove the two large headed screws from the center panel with the Phillips screwdriver. Remove the top two screws holding the panel to the plastic case using the Phillips screwdriver.
5
Slowly slide the center unit out a few inches. Take a picture of the projector lens' positioning with the digital camera so that you can put it back correctly later. Unplug the two cables from the left side of the center panel. Unscrew the sensor switch using the Phillips screwdriver. Slide the center panel completely out of the Samsung and put it down on the clean cloth. Blow off the color wheel assembly with the compressed air.
6
Use the tweezers to remove the green plug from the top of the color wheel cover. Use the tweezers to remove the two cables at the side that are coming from the color wheel. Use the Phillips jeweler's screwdriver to remove the screws from the top, front and back of the color wheel cover. Slide the color wheel cover straight up to expose the color wheel.
7
Use the Phillips screwdriver to remove the three screws holding the color wheel to the color wheel assembly. Lift the color wheel up and out of the color wheel assembly and discard it.
8
Position the replacement color wheel in the color wheel assembly. Reassemble the color wheel and reassemble the color wheel assembly. Put the color wheel assembly back into position in the rear of the Samsung DLP TV. Reassemble the Samsung DLP TV. Plug the Samsung DLP TV back in for power. Turn the Samsung on and enjoy seeing the colors displayed properly again now that you have replaced the color wheel.

How to replace rear projection lamp ?

ok first put the back back on and all screws back in unit. The bulb is located on the front of this TV. Now on the back of the unit on each side there is 1 plastic straight head screw on each side of the back of the tv turn these and on the front where the power button is thats a panel that pulls off the bulb is right behind that panel u have to unscrew to phillips screws on bulb case and it pulls right out, the front panel sometimes takes a good little tug to pop it loose just make sure those plastic screws on each side right on the back of tv are loose first. Hope this helps good luck.

JVC HD-52G786 shuts off

Do you have your TV plugged directly into the wall? You cannot plug into a power strip, it needs its own direct power source. Also, I have heard that there can be electrical problems inside. I have this same model, I love it, picture and sound. I just replaced the bulb for the first time last night. It was a little premature to replace it now but I know what caused it. I bought a new bulb and it works like a gem. If you ever need to change the bulb do it yourself. It takes maybe 2 minutes. The bulb looks like the Flux Copassitor and all you do is remove the door in the back on the side. Unscrew the the 2 screws that hold the bulb in and just pull out. When you put the new one in make sure you do NOT touch the glass on the new lamp. Just slid it in and screw the 2 screws back in and make sure the door is closed and tight. My uncle had a service guy do his and he got raked for 5-$600, The bulb costs about $200. Should last about 5-6 years at a rate of 5-6 hours of TV on time. Hope this helped. If not, sorry, but at least you know how to change the bulb. Good Luck!!!
