What is your email provider (like hotmail, yahoo, etc), and what program are you using to get mail? (windows live, outlook, outlook express?)
Have you tried accessing your mailbox directly from a browser window and logging into the provider website? You'll be able to check your password access that way...
Give us some more details and we might be able to answer better...
If you're using outlook, I think I fixed that issue once but it took some searching, and reappeared after awhile...you may have a corrupt user profile or mail profile and need to make a new one...

How do I check my work emails from home

Which email account ??
Access Work Email From Home
Sometimes, the regular workday isn't enough time to get your day's work done.
Taking work home has become a way of life for many people.
If you're one of these people, the ability to access your work email from home is essential to your success.

Ask your workplace's technical support department for help to log on from home.
Some offices set up web access to your email from home, and your tech support department can instruct how to take advantage of this service.
One popular way employers provide this is through Microsoft Web Access.
With Microsoft Web Access, you can log in using any web browser and access your email from any web-enabled computer.
If your office uses Outlook for email, ask if you can set up your home computer to access your email through Outlook.
You will need your login information and your incoming and outgoing mail servers from your tech support department.

If your company provides POP or IMAP access, visit mail2web.
From the homepage, enter your email address and password to log in to your email from any web browser.

Set up a free Gmail email account.
If you use Outlook for email at work, you can automatically forward all email you receive to your Gmail account.
Gmail also provides automatic filtering features that enable you to automatically organize incoming mail.

Ask your IT department if remote computer access is available. Once set up, remote computer access lets you work from home by accessing and controlling your work computer.
Check your work email at home
Sometimes you want to check your work email at home and vice versa using multiple computers. Here is how

Most people find it easiest to use our web based email system to check for messages while not at the office.
Check with your IT guys to find out what's the URL
However, you want to check your email just like at work, using Microsoft Outlook.
This will require some configuration on your part.
Setup for email programs vary, however your email program will ask for the following information: username, incoming server (POP or IMAP), outgoing server (SMTP), return address, name etc

Open Microsoft Outlook, On the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts
Select Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
Select POP3, and then click Next.
In the Your Name box, type your full name the way you want it to appear to other people.
In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail user name followed by @yourcompany.com.
Under Server Information, do the following:

In the Incoming mail server (POP3) box, type mail.yourcompany.com
In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.yourcompany.com.

Under Logon Information, do the following:

In the User Name box, type your user name provided by your company.

In the Password box, type your password.
Select the Remember password check box

To verify that your account is working, click Test Account Settings.
If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be prompted to supply or correct it.
Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.

Hit OK, you're done!

tip

Gmail on outlook!

To use your Gmail e-mail account in Outlook, you must first make sure POP3 support is enabled in Gmail, and then you can add it to Outlook.
Log in to your Gmail account.
At the top of any Gmail page, click Settings.
In the Mail Settings window, click Forwarding and POP.
I don't see Forwarding and POP
Gmail is turning on POP3 support for users in phases. If Forwarding and POP does not appear, your Gmail account cannot be configured for POP3
support.
In the POP Download section, select Enable POP or all mail or Enable POP only for mail that arrives from now on.
Click Save Settings.
In Outlook, on the Tools menu, click E-mail Accounts.
Click Add a new e-mail account, and then click Next.
Click POP3, and then click Next.
Under User Information, do the following:
In the Your Name box, type your full name the way you want it to appear to other people.
In the E-mail Address box, type your e-mail user name followed by @gmail.com.
Under Server Information, do the following:
In the Incoming mail server (POP3) box, type pop.gmail.com.
In the Outgoing mail server (SMTP) box, type smtp.Gmail.com.
Under Logon Information, do the following:
In the User Name box, type your full e-mail address, including @gmail.com.
In the Password box, type your password.
Select the Remember password check box.
Note You have the option to have Outlook remember your password by typing it in the Password box and selecting the Remember password check
box. Having Outlook remember your password means that you won't have to type your password each time you access the account; however, it also
means that the account is vulnerable to anyone who has access to your computer. Use strong passwords that combine upper- and lowercase letters,
numbers, and symbols. Weak passwords don't mix these elements. Strong password: Y6dh!et5. Weak password: House27. Use a strong password
that you can remember so that you don't have to write it down.
Click More Settings.
On the General tab, under Mail Account, type Gmail.
Click the Outgoing Server tab, and then select the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication check box.
Select Use same settings as my incoming mail server.
Click the Advanced tab, and then under Server Port Numbers for both Incoming server (POP3) and Outgoing server (SMTP), select the This server
requires an encrypted connection (SSL) check boxes.
Change the Outgoing server (SMTP) port number to 465.
The Incoming server (POP3) port number should change automatically to 995 when you select the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL)
check box.
Click OK.
To verify that your account is working, click Test Account Settings. If there is missing or incorrect information, such as your password, you will be
prompted to supply or correct it. Make sure your computer is connected to the Internet.
Click Next, and then click Finish.
Notes
Do not select the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) check box.
Unless specified by Gmail, all server and address entries are typed in lowercase letters.

This works for both Outlook 2003 and 2007!

How to change settings in Outlook to delete message from server after downloading

Hi, follow the steps below. Don't change any of your settings since they already work, but when you get to step 7 this is where you check whether or not you want to remove the emails from the sever.

Open Outlook 2003 then:
  1. Click Tools ' E-mail Accounts.
  2. Select Add a new e-mail account and click Next.
  3. Select POP3, then click Next.
  4. Enter the following information:
    • User Information
      • Your Name: Type your name as you'd like it to appear when you send an email message.
      • E-mail Address: Type your Yahoo! Mail Plus email address (for example, [email protected]).
    • Server Information
      • Incoming mail server (POP3): Type pop.mail.yahoo.com
      • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): Type smtp.mail.yahoo.com
    • Login Information
      • User Name: Type your Yahoo! ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
      • Password: Type your Yahoo! password.
    • Check the Remember password checkbox if you don't want Outlook to prompt you for your password each time you check your mail.
    • Do notcheck the Log on using Secure Password Authentication (SPA) checkbox.
  5. Click the More Settings button. The Internet E-mail Settings dialog box appears.
  6. Select the Outgoing Server tab:
    • Check the My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication checkbox.
    • Make sure that Use same settings as my incoming mail server is selected.
  7. Select the Advanced tab:

    • In the Outgoing server (SMTP) field, type 465. Under it, check the This server requires an encrypted connection (SSL) checkbox.
    • If you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Yahoo! Mail server and on your computer, check the Leave a copy of messages on the server checkbox. If you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! server once Outlook has downloaded them onto your computer, leave the box unchecked.
Note: After your messages are deleted from the server, we cannot retrieve them.
  8. Click OK to close the Internet E-mail Settings dialog box.
  9. Click Next and then Finish.
  10. Close and restart your Microsoft Outlook.

How to receive mails from two yahoo accounts to one place?

Hi Vinay,

You need to configur your microsoft outlook or windows mail or outlook express in such a way that you recive mails from both the account to one inbox. Follow the below steps if you have ms outlook.

Microsoft Outlook Express
Yahoo! Mail users can read their email in Outlook Express by subscribing to the Yahoo! Mail Plus service. This service allows you to use Outlook Express or another POP3 client to access and manage your Yahoo! Mail messages.

Outlook Express allows you to add a new email account to your existing profile. This means you do not have to replace your current settings in order to send and receive Yahoo! Mail messages. Here's how:

1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Click the "Add" button.
4. From the Add menu, click "Mail."
5. In the text box labeled Display Name, type your name and click "Next."
6. In the Email Address box, type your Yahoo! Mail address (be sure to include "@yahoo.com") and click "Next."
7. Under "My incoming mail server is a..." select "POP3."
8. Type "pop.mail.yahoo.com" in the Incoming Mail (POP3, IMAP, or HTTP) Server box.
9. Type "smtp.mail.yahoo.com" in the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server box.
10. Click "Next."
11. In the Account Name box, type your Yahoo! Mail ID (your email address without the "@yahoo.com").
12. In the Password box, type your Yahoo! Mail password.
13. If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, check the "Remember password" box.
14. Do not check the boxes labeled "Log on using Secure..."
15. Click "Next."
16. Click "Finish."

Important: The Yahoo! Mail SMTP server now requires authentication. To turn this setting on:

1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Double-click the account labeled "pop.mail.yahoo.com."
4. Select the "Servers" tab.
5. Check the box next to "My Server Requires Authentication."
6. Click "OK."

To control deletion of messages from the Yahoo! Mail Server:

1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
2. Select the "Mail" tab.
3. Double-click the account labeled "pop.mail.yahoo.com."
4. Select the "Advanced" tab.
5. In the Delivery section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a copy of messages on server" if you want to save your Yahoo! Mail messages on the Yahoo! Mail server as well as on your local computer. Do not check this box if you want your messages to be deleted from the Yahoo! Mail server once you have received them in Outlook Express.

If your ISP blocks port 25 or if you're unable to send email, then you will need to use port 587 when sending via Yahoo!'s SMTP server. To make this change, please follow the directions below:

1. From the "Tools" menu, select "Accounts"
2. Select your Yahoo! POP account and click on the "Properties" button
3. Click on the "Advanced" tab
4. Next to "Outgoing server (SMTP), change port 25 to 587
5. Click "Apply", then click "OK" and "Close"

Yahoo wants me to sign in every time i try to access my mail; how do i get this crazyness to stop?

You can have your computer remember your user name and password whenever you try to log in. You just need to do the following;
1. go to Browsing History under Internet Options
2. delete Cookies, Cache, Temporary Internet files and Password.
3. open IE or any browser log in using your user name and password
4. then there would either be a pop-up or a notification found on top or at the bottom of the screen asking if you'll remember the user name / password.
5. try to log out and close the browser and then open a fresh browser and try to log in and type the user name and password
6. select or put a check mark under the pop-up remember password
