i have the same problem it gives me an option to log on to windows but when i do it says "You may be a victim of software counterfeiting, click resolve now to get help with this problem"...when i do click resolve now a window pops up saying "A problem is preventing windows from accurately checking the licence for this computer. error code 0x80070005"...... no matter what i do i cannot pass this window, it will not allow me to get into the computer at all...can someone please help...feel like throwing it out the window a this stage

This prob happen to my bro who's staying at different country w/ me. He does not know alot about computer so I need to find a solution for him as clear as possible.

Btw there are part 1)Safe Mode and 2) Step registry.
What does it mean? Should we do all step 1) & 2) ? or we can just choose either one of 1) or 2)?

I read (skimmed) the majority of these comments and most of them say the same thing... "Windows Not Genuine" or "This copy of Windows did not pass Validation". I can tell you now, it IS NOT a form of EXTORTION from Microsoft. If you tried to run an update and encountered these messages, you do in fact have a "Hacked" or counterfeit copy of Windows plain & simple. Only 3 ways that this scenario could take place...

1) You bought a USED pc/laptop from someone who installed the counterfeit copy of Windows without telling you about it.

2) You found someone who claimed that they could fix your computer at a lesser cost than what a pc repair company would charge you.

3) You yourself downloaded and installed a "Hactivated" copy of Windows from a website, specifically a "File Sharing" website such as KickAssTorrents or ThePirateBay, and are trying to play it off because that is technically an illegal operation.

A NEW or Certified REFURBISHED pc/laptop from a store or Amazon.com WILL NOT come with a Hactivated copy of windows. Criminal charges could be filed against them if they did so & as a franchise/corporation, they don't want to acquire that bad reputation.

The are only 2 ways to correct this problem:

1) BUY a LEGITIMATE COPY of WINDOWS.

2) Find someone that has a legitimate copy for the SAME BRAND of pc that you are trying to fix. The operating systems would be best suited if the install disc matched what initially came with the pc from the factory.

Example: If you have a Dell that came with Windows Vista, find a Windows Vista OS Install Disc with a Dell OEM.
You will not be required to produce a product key because the product key for your system is already embedded in your systems BIOS Memory. After the completion of the installation, your OS will be automatically activated without the need of a Internet connection.

Same applies to ALL BRANDS.

HP, Gateway, Acer, Toshiba, Samsung, Sony, Etc.

Warning: Had the original motherboard been replaced, there will no longer be a product key available from your BIOS Memory. Under that circumstance, you can only buy a legitimate copy of the OS that you are wanting & a product key will come with it.

I know that the operating systems are not cheap... I understand that without a doubt, so if money is the issue, look around for a GENUINE OS Install disc. That's about all that you can do.

PS.

Microsoft Windows XP is no longer a technically supported OS. If you are running Windows XP, keep it offline. There are NO SECUTITY UPDATES for this OS making it EXTREMELY VULNERABLE to Hackers, Viruses, Malware & Spyware.

I keep getting a message "Windows did not pass genuine validation.... Go online and resolve now and get genuine Windows." I have a copy of Windows XP which I bought in the store. My computer came with Vista; when the hard drive crashed, I had the shop install the copy of XP which I'd bought earlier, instead of reinstalling Vista. I believe u r not using the key that either is tagged with a branded system or on the cover of the WINDOWS XP DISK. In order to stop piracy MICROSOFT has done that, when a pirated version of windows is used online MICROSOFT record few details like MAK, Hard Drive Serial Number and few important details regarding the pc and on finding the PRODUCT KEY fraud they install WINDOWS GENUINE ADVANTAGE PLUG-IN into the system... If u have paid for the LICENSED VERSION of windows xp then contact the support person from where u bought it otherwise there are ways to remove it as well for that u can follow these steps....

FOR WINDOWS XP

THERE ARE NUMBER OF METHODS BUT FOR YOU THESE 2 METHODS ARE GOOD

1) METHOD:-
TRY SYSTEM RESTORE.

2) METHOD:-
2.1) LAUNCH WINDOWS TASK MANAGER.
2.2) End wgatray.exe Process In Task Manager.
2.3) Restart System In Safe Mode.

When u use this option whenever your system detects any new WINDOWSUPDATE choose the updates which u want to install... DON'T INSTALLWINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK --3.

STEPS TO REMOVE WINDOWS GENUINE ADVANTAGE

If you have only just installed Windows Genuine Advantagenotifications, simply using the system restore function will remove theprogram. Then refuse to accept the WGA update next time Windowsupdates... Otherwise, proceed as detailed below. (NOTE: If you try these steps while you are in "Safe Mode," step #8 is unnecessary).
First Try the Following:
- Open a CMD Line Window by Clicking on Start ==>Run ==> type CMD and Press OK.
- Change Directory into the System32 Folder (Like Cd c:WindowsSystem32)
- Open a notepad Window and type the following lines:
taskkill -IM wgatray.exe
del wgatray.exe
del wgalogon.dll
- Highlight and copy to the Clipboard the three lines above
- now Paste the the contents of the Clipboard to the CMD Window
This should kill the wgatray.exe Process from the Taskbar andimediately delete both files wgatray.exe and wgalogon.dll without theneed to to go through all steps bellow.
If that does not work, then continue and follow the steps bellow
Open System32 by either A or B of the following methods:
- a) Click "Start", "Run", then type-in "System32". Click "Okay".
- b) Find System32 manually by clicking "Start" > "My Computer"> "(X:)" (Replacing "X" with the drive letter of the host ofWindows) > "Windows" > "System32".
In "System32", go to "Tools" > "Folder options" > click onthe tab, "View" > Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Now you can begin...
Check to make sure the window that comes up has a full screen ofvarious files. The files are in alphabetical order, which makes iteasier to locate the specific file.
Find "WgaLogon.dll" and rename it "WgaLogon.dll.bak".
Create an empty copy of WgaLogon.dll:
- Right click on a blank space in System32 and select "New" > "Text Document".
- Leave the text document empty and label it "WgaLogon.dll". Press Enter (on your keyboard).
- You may get a warning from the above step that says, "If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable. Are you sure you want to change it?". Click "Yes" on this warning.
Be ready to complete the next two steps very quickly! Find"WgaTray.exe" in "System32" and delete it. You will then have 5 secondsto find "WgaTray.exe" in the Task Manager (the next step). NOTE: If you remove the files mentioned above while you are in "Safe Mode," step #8 is unnecessary.
Immediately open Task Manager. You can do this by pressing the Ctrl,Shift, and Esc keys simultaneously, pressing the Ctrl, Alt, and Deletekeys simultaneously, or right clicking the Taskbar and selecting "TaskManager". Click on the process tab and click end process when"WgaTray.exe" is selected. Note: If you take longer, do not panic!All that will happen is that "WgaTray.exe" will keep reapearing in theprocesses list (i.e. you won't be able to delete it as required). Toremove the notifications after this, return to system32. You will findtwo files:"WgaLogon.dll.bak" (the one you renamed) and an ApplicationExtension (0KB) called "WgaLogon.dll". Delete the ApplicationExtension, rename "WgaLogon.dll.bak" to "WgaLogon.dll" and repeat thesteps from the fifth one onwards (at a greater speed!!).
Restart your computer once you have finished. All the notification messages should be gone.

When u use this option whenever your system detects any new WINDOWSUPDATE choose the updates which u want to install... DON'T INSTALLWINDOWS XP SERVICE PACK --3.

STEPS TO REMOVE WINDOWS GENUINE ADVANTAGE

If you have only just installed Windows Genuine Advantagenotifications, simply using the system restore function will remove theprogram. Then refuse to accept the WGA update next time Windowsupdates... Otherwise, proceed as detailed below. (NOTE: If you try these steps while you are in "Safe Mode," step #8 is unnecessary).
First Try the Following:
- Open a CMD Line Window by Clicking on Start ==>Run ==> type CMD and Press OK.
- Change Directory into the System32 Folder (Like Cd c:WindowsSystem32)
- Open a notepad Window and type the following lines:
taskkill -IM wgatray.exe
del wgatray.exe
del wgalogon.dll
- Highlight and copy to the Clipboard the three lines above
- now Paste the the contents of the Clipboard to the CMD Window
This should kill the wgatray.exe Process from the Taskbar andimediately delete both files wgatray.exe and wgalogon.dll without theneed to to go through all steps bellow.
If that does not work, then continue and follow the steps bellow
Open System32 by either A or B of the following methods:
- a) Click "Start", "Run", then type-in "System32". Click "Okay".
- b) Find System32 manually by clicking "Start" > "My Computer"> "(X:)" (Replacing "X" with the drive letter of the host ofWindows) > "Windows" > "System32".
In "System32", go to "Tools" > "Folder options" > click onthe tab, "View" > Uncheck "Hide extensions for known file types". Now you can begin...
Check to make sure the window that comes up has a full screen ofvarious files. The files are in alphabetical order, which makes iteasier to locate the specific file.
Find "WgaLogon.dll" and rename it "WgaLogon.dll.bak".
Create an empty copy of WgaLogon.dll:
- Right click on a blank space in System32 and select "New" > "Text Document".
- Leave the text document empty and label it "WgaLogon.dll". Press Enter (on your keyboard).
- You may get a warning from the above step that says, "If you change a file name extension, the file may become unusable. Are you sure you want to change it?". Click "Yes" on this warning.
Be ready to complete the next two steps very quickly! Find"WgaTray.exe" in "System32" and delete it. You will then have 5 secondsto find "WgaTray.exe" in the Task Manager (the next step). NOTE: If you remove the files mentioned above while you are in "Safe Mode," step #8 is unnecessary.
Immediately open Task Manager. You can do this by pressing the Ctrl,Shift, and Esc keys simultaneously, pressing the Ctrl, Alt, and Deletekeys simultaneously, or right clicking the Taskbar and selecting "TaskManager". Click on the process tab and click end process when"WgaTray.exe" is selected. Note: If you take longer, do not panic!All that will happen is that "WgaTray.exe" will keep reapearing in theprocesses list (i.e. you won't be able to delete it as required). Toremove the notifications after this, return to system32. You will findtwo files:"WgaLogon.dll.bak" (the one you renamed) and an ApplicationExtension (0KB) called "WgaLogon.dll". Delete the ApplicationExtension, rename "WgaLogon.dll.bak" to "WgaLogon.dll" and repeat thesteps from the fifth one onwards (at a greater speed!!).
Restart your computer once you have finished. All the notification messages should be gone.

Every time I start my computer, the "This copy of Windows did not pass genuine validation" appears on my scren and unable to disappear

it is illegal to remove it. your copy of windows did not pass genuine validation meaning your copy of windows is not a valid copy of windows. its a cracked version. if you want to remove it you should buy a genuine copy of windows

The main issue is that your windows got expire and its time to activate it once again. It needs to be activated always in order to stay genuine.

To do that either you have to purchase the windows key or activate it via a tool.

If you have the original CD you should be able to reinsert it into CD player and pass validation. If you don't have the CD, then you license key for your copy of Windows was tagged as invalid for some reason in their databases. You will have to contact microsoft.com to get it corrected.

1)Safe Mode
• Reboot your computer and as soon as Windows logs off, start repeatively tapping the F8 Key on your keyboard. • As soon as you see the Windows Advanced Startup options select Safe Mode within Safe Mode get yourself into these folders… • C:\Windows\System32 (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe) • C:\Windows\System32\dllcache (Rename wgatray.exe to wgatrayold.exe) Note: Dllcache is a hidden folder, to view hidden folders do the following, go to Start, Control Panel, Folder Options, Select the view Tab and under the Hidden Files option, select Show hidden files and folders

2) Safe Mode Registry
• Click on Start, Run and within the open dialog box type regedit and click OK. • Within the Registry Editor navigate your self to HKEY_Local_Machine\Software\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersi on\Winlogon\Notify\WGALOGON • Right Click and Export the WGALOGON Folder (this should be saved onto your machine for backup purposes) • After Exporting the folder, DELETE the WGALOGON folder • After deleting close all applications and Restart your machine back to Normal Mode After being prompt of a successful validation, Restart your Machine
