If the Eq has enough jacks to run every thing, that would go In to Eq an out to receiver, you were told correctly, for example cdplayer out - to Eq In - Eq- out to Receiver in

I have a pioneer vsx d511 receiver. My question is how can i hook up pioneer gr777 equalizer? Pls help. Thanks

You're going to need an RCA audio switch if you plan on using more than one source (DVD/CD/MP3 etc..). They can be had for $20-30. If you use the switch, you'll plug all of your sources into that and switch them to the single output of the switch. From the switch (or single source if no switch is used) you'll plug RCA into the EQ. From here you plug the output of the EQ into any one of the 5 RCA inputs on the VSXD511. Voila! You have EQ!
