Mitsubishi TV #WS 5531 hd 1080 upgradable - Screen started to flicker then would go black and tv would turn off. Turn TV back on, sometimes it would work fine, sometimes it would stay black. Sometimes it just turns itself off. Would stay blank for 20-30 minutes then work for days. Now it's just black. Help?
When was the lamp changed last? Is the set very dirty? If so...the lamp, filter, and fan may need cleaning. Lamp may be going out too. Usually they just 'burn out' then no good after that. Sets in cabinets will overheat if not sufficient room for airflow. Can you hear the fan? When was the lamp changed last? Is the set very dirty? If so...the lamp, filter, and fan may need cleaning. Make it sure that you have a 1080 signal from your source(eg. HD receiver, bluray player etc.). Try pressing format button on the remote until you get full picture . Or try changing the format or aspect ration in your satellite or cable box.
just visit www.mitsubishi-tv.com and look for the support site on the top page and click for product documents, the exact model starts with
WD, WS, or WT sometimes VS and its located at the back
most likely the convergence Ics have failed. Check F9a04 and F9A05 pico fuses if they are blown you will need to replace them and the convergence Ics.They are located on the center board they are green and look like resistors without the color band. see the photo
