I received a Sony color rear video projection tv as a gift of sorts from a friend because the green suddenly stopped working. I was interested to know what would it take to fix a color tube on one of these. I don't intend on fixing it but I would liek to know what it would take to fix it.
The other question:
How do I just replace it.. I am looking at it and I see radiation warnings and I have no clue how these come apart. If you could help to point me in the right direction at least as far as replacing it goes, that would be great!
Thank you very much for any assistance.
Sincerely,

Depending on the type of rear projection tv , these sets normally employ three seperate CRT tubes to give you the RGB output on the screen. Replacing the tubes is not that difficult but does involve some dexterity and care as there is potential high voltages around these areas. Also depending on if it is the actual tube that is faulty as sometime it is just the particular section of the circuitry that goes faulty in this case the Green chroma section could be faulty and not the tube itself.Knowing where to look and to test is what technicians do and advising you further would be dangerous and irresponsible of me. Take it in for repairs and ask the tech nicely if you can observe what he does, you might be surprised and he will allow you to observe. Good luck.
