Have you gotten and old telephone and plug it in where the fax goes and see (hear) if you have any problems with a good dial tone and phone line? Does your phone line go near any high power a/c units big motors, mite think about a ferrite core for the fax/phone line. hav ATT or other carrier check your line. Also check your own line when ATT does it there check is only to the location not inside the house. Does your sure protector protect your phone line, really good sureg protectors protect Power lines fax lines!!! and in some case network lines

Btw, I’m available to help over the phone in case u need at https://www.6ya.com/expert/normanj_7893313f0751935f

How would i get the fax report

from the user manual:

The default fax confirmation setting is Every Error. This means that your
HP Officejet prints a report only if there is a problem with sending or receiving a fax. A confirmation message indicating whether an item was successfully sent appears briefly on the front panel display after each transaction. To have a confirmation printed for every fax, follow these instructions.

1 Press Setup.
2 Press 1, then press 1.
This selects Print Report and then selects Automatic Reports Setup.

3 Press direction right button until Every Fax appears in the second line of the display, and then press OK.

The HP Officejet will print a confirmation report every time you send a fax informing you whether the fax was sent successfully or not.

Enjoy

Receiving error

Ok...so I fixed my own problem. I had printed out a system data sheet on my fax machine and found out that the "error" was in under sending confirn, so I went into my menu to the sending confirm section and turned it off. Then my boss tried sending the fax and it came through like nothing was ever wrong...I think the other day when my Iguana got in my office, he must have done something, as I found him perched on my fax machine....hmmmm. Thanks for the follow-up email.

Intermittent problem of faxes not being rec'd from various areas

After a detailed discussion on chat, we got disconnected before accepting payment. This is not a problem with your fax, as it seems to be receiving most calls fine. I suggest printing out a report - Menu/Set, 2, 0, 2 - of caller ID history and having the phone company look into it further. Either there is a problem with your phone line, or someone is prank calling your fax from outside of your caller ID service area. Both are problems for the phone company to fix.
