Have you made sure that the batteries are LiIon and fully charged? I had a similar problem with a Kodak Easyshare camera that required the higher voltage LiIon battery pack rather than alkaline AAs which will fit in there but is not exactly right.
After you plug it in you have to turn the camera on. Then open the easyshare software and go to "add pictures". But the camera must be powered on for the computer to see it.
was the camera drop?

Mine was doing the same thing and after chatting with Kodak Tech Support to no avail I wiped the lens barrel (the rings that slide in and out) with a paper towel dampened with a little alcohol and it started working again. There's a sensor that shuts down the camera if the lens can't move freely and apparently a film can build up on the rings that causes just enough friction to make it turn off. I then wiped it with a tiny bit of WD40 on the towel and it's working perfectly. Be very careful if you try this to not get anything on the glass lens itself, and don't use enough to soak the towel, just barely dampen it.
Remove the batteries and clean the battery contacts inside the camera
with a soft cloth (a heavy buildup on the contacts may require cleaning
with a fine wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue
that the cleaning leaves in the camera, and then reinstall the
batteries. This clears most power-on problems, but if yours persists,
check the Kodak troubleshooting guide at:
Make sure the camera is fully charged. It will shut off if it can not pull enough power off the battery.
If you have a dock that you use to recharge it or a wall plug-in, plug the camera into it. Push the power button. Having it plugged in by-passes the battery. It should turn on when it is docked or plugged into the wall. If plugging or docking the camera does not turn the camera on, you have an issue that Kodak will need to resolve. Don't forget to have proof of purchase and check to see if your warranty is still valid. Hope that helps.
