I have white dots appearing my screen of my samsung dlp. what causes this?
If the white spots are appearing in different spots or "Moving" it is the DMD board beginning to fail. Samsung DLPs seem to have a lot of DMD board failures. I would expect it to completely fail in the next couple months.
If there are only a couple small white spots that never go away it could be a mirror that is seized on the chip, but it's far more likely that the DMD board is going bad.

The random whit dots you are seeing is more than not the DMD or million little mirrors board. The white spots represent some of the mirrors that are sticking in the on position. In that case they are always reflecting white light from the lamp. I don't concider the DMD board a do it yourself repair since on the older DLP set it requires mechanical alignment as well. The best thing to do is contact a techincian and see what they might charge to repair the TV for you. Please take a few moments to rate my answer...Thanks..

these are lit pixels! which can only be caused by a bad dmd chip (the micro-mirror-device). the chip can be replaced but it requires an experienced technitian to align the chip so your picture is straight, centered and in focus.

It seems you might have an issue with the dmd board. Go to the menu, and if the dots still show on the menu, the issue definitely is with the dmd board but if they don't come up on the menu, the issue will be with the video board.

No way to fix it solo, but Samsung is aware of the problem. Here's a link to the solution:

sound like you have a bad dlp chip. this happens to a lot of samsung dlp tvs. some of the mirrors are stuck. they can appear as black dots or white dots and it usually gets worse over time.
