The monitor switching off can be due to various reasons. I am ennumerating them..check each point carefully.

1. check the vga cable and power cable going to the monitor. they may be loosely connected. make sure the cables are firmly into the port at both ends.

2. there maybe power saving mode active... computer going into standby/suspend mode. check the power settings. right click desktop > properties> screensaver  tab... click power button.

3. If not using a UPS try checking the power supply for voltage fluctuations and spikes

Hope this will resolve your issue otherwise post back.

Hi my LG L1718S monitor wont start from energy saving mode

I had the same problem with my monitor, the problem was that one of the "pins" or "prongs" was bent and mashed flat on the monitor's port plug in cable (the cord from the monitor that plugs into the computer's monitor port). I carefully pried up the prong and straightened it out the best I could and that fixed the problem for me.

I have a LG Flatron L1718S; the screen display for 2 sec and then turn Black.

If the power light remains on after it goes black, the problem is the inverter board that powers the back light behind the screen, the cause is usually bad capacitors. To fix it, the board must be replaced or attempt made to repair the inverter board.

Hi can my flatron L1718S monitor be connected to a sky box for use as a TV? thanks

You will need another box to convert the output signal from Sky box to VGA output to feed the monitor. Juts Google ' Video to VGA adapter'. For example:

http://www.thenerds.net/STARTECHCOM.StarTechcom_Composite_and_S_Video_to_VGA_Video_Converter.COMP2VGA.html?affid=8&productads=1

You may also need a good set of powered speakers for good sound.

Please leave rating if it helps.

White lining in the screen

I couldn't find the l1718s listed on the lg.com website. I would recommend that you contact the lg.com website for further research on your monitor: For Audio/Video/TV, Computer Products, Home Appliances
