Doesn't enable virtualization

To determine whether your PC supports hardware virtualization:

Step 1. Does my PC have a CPU with support for hardware virtualization?

Download and run the Hardware-Assisted Virtualization Detection Tool

If you receive the message This computer does not have hardware-assisted virtualization, your computer does not meet the hardware requirement for Windows Virtual PC, but you can still use Windows 7 XP Mode by running this hotfix. Be aware that XP Mode will run much better if hardware-assisted virtualization can be enabled.

If you receive the message Hardware-assisted virtualization is not enabled on this computer, go on to Step 2 below.

If you receive the message This computer is configured with hardware-assisted virtualization, download and install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode.

Step 2. Does my PC BIOS support hardware virtualization, and is it turned on?

Instructions to turn on hardware virtualization in your PC BIOS are specific to OEM models. It is important that after changing your BIOS settings the PC is completely shut down at the power switch before restarting so that the new BIOS settings can take place.

Examples for some models of some computer manufacturer's BIOS settings are below:

Sample instructions for your PC

Expand all

Dell systems

Depress the F12 key when boot menu text appears at startup

Select BIOS setup and depress the Enter key

Using the mouse, expand the Virtualization Support menu item by clicking on the plus to the left of Virtualization Support and select Virtualization

Check the Enable Intel Virtualization Technology checkbox

Click Apply

Click Exit

Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer

HP systems

Depress Esc key when prompted at startup

Depress the F10 key to Configure BIOS

Scroll to System Configuration using the arrow keys

Select Virtualization Technology and depress the Enter key

Select Enabled and depress the Enter key

Depress the F10 key to save and exit

Select Yes and depress the Enter key

Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer

Lenovo ThinkPad systems

Depress the blue ThinkVantage key when prompted at startup

Depress the F1 key to enter the BIOS setup utility

Using the arrow keys, scroll to Config and depress the Enter key

Scroll to CPU and depress the Enter key

Scroll to Intel Virtualization Technology and depress the Enter key

Select Enabled and depress the Enter key

Depress Enter key to continue

Depress F10 key to save and exit

Select Yes and depress the Enter key

Fully shut down (power off), wait a few seconds, and restart your computer

Acer

PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.

Asus

PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.

Samsung

PCs capable of supporting Windows XP Mode have already been enabled and do not require additional configuration.

Panasonic

Depress the F2 key when boot menu text appears at startup

Select Advanced menu in Setup Utility

Change "Intel Virtualization Technology" setting from Disable to Enable

Depress F10 to exit Setup Utility

Select Yes in confirmation menu

Depress Enter to exit confirmation menu.

Please note the instructions above may not work in all cases and consulting with your computer manufacturer may be necessary. Additionally, we expect hardware virtualization to become more available when Windows 7 is shipped, particularly in business-class PCs. For those PCs that come pre-installed with Windows XP Mode we recommend the computer manufacturer turn on hardware virtualization before shipping the PC.

Once you have confirmed your PC supports hardware virtualization
Download and install Windows Virtual PC and Windows XP Mode

hope this helps

WAP/WEP password not working

These are the two options for your Router. Don't forget to save your settings

WPA is an upgrade to the WEP (Wired Equivalent Privacy) standard for securing your wireless network. If you would like to secure your wireless network using WPA, you will need the following:

  • WPA enabled on your Dell TrueMobile 2300 Wireless Broadband Router

  • WPA support for your wireless clients. If you are using a Dell TrueMobile wireless client, you can check for the availability of WPA enabled software update for your wireless client at http://support.dell.com.

  1. Log into the Web configuration of your router at http://my.router (or the default address http://192.168.2.1)
  2. Click on Basic Settings.
  3. Click on Wireless Security.
  4. Click on the Enable Wireless Security checkbox.
  5. Select either WEP or WPA in the Network Authentication list.

To setup WPA
  1. Enter your pre-shared key. This key must match the key that is used by each wireless client computer associated to your router.
  2. Choose a key format. This can be hexadecimal digits (0-9, A-F) or ASCII characters (any key on the keyboard).
  3. WPA Group Rekey Interval specifies how often the key rotates or changes.
  4. WPA Encryption allows you to select 1 of 2 possible encryption methods (TKIP and AES) - choose one that your wireless clients supports.
  5. Click NEXT, then Save and Restart to apply the changes.
  6. Setup the WPA on your wireless clients. Refer to the documentation that accompanied your wireless clients, or your wireless clients on-line help system for information on how to setup WPA.

Hi! I am a computer professional working to

Hi Kavin,
What I feel after reading your issue is that you are making some mistakes while configuring the router.I am sharing a link below, please go through the pdf document before you configure the Netpassage 18.
http://www.nowire.se/produktblad/Compex/NP18v1.2C-manual.pdf

This is a very good guide to know how the device can be configured.Remember few things.1) Disable all the security measures like Firewall,NAT etc. before configuration.2)Enable SSID broadcast3)Under Basic configuration of PPPoe where you are asked that "Your internet connection require a login"go through this area very carefully. This is where you are making the mistake. Here you have to make changes as per your Internet service provider. Whether it is a login type or not you know that better. It should be always on mode4)Your wireless settings should have a SSID and Security Options (WPA-PSK ) and this key will be your password.5)GO through Chapter 7 very carefully.6) Enable Wireless Router Radio7)Enable SSID Broadcast8)I hope after going through this you will be able to configure the router. Please revert back incase you face any difficulty.Thank you,Avishek

How do I secure?

WIRELESS To configure the Router as a wireless access point for wireless clients (either stationary or roaming), all you need to do is define the radio channel, the Service Set identifier (SSID), and security options.ADVANCED SETUP 47 Channel and SSID You must specify a common radio channel and SSID (Service Set ID) to be used by the Router and all of your wireless clients. Be sure you configure all of your clients to the same values. SSID: The Service Set ID. This should be set to the same value as the other wireless devices in your network. SSID Broadcast: Broadcasting the SSID on the wireless network for easy connection with client PCs. For security reasons, you should disable SSID broadcast. (Default: Enable) Note: The SSID is case sensitive and can consist of up to 32 alphanumeric characters. Wireless Mode: Set the communication mode for the Router. Default: Mixed (11b+11g)Configuring the Wireless Barricade g Router 48 Transmission Rate: Set the rate of data transmitted from the Router. The lower the data rate, the longer the transmission distance. (Default: Fully Automatic.) Channel: The radio channel through which the Router communicates with PCs in its BSS. (Default: 6) Note: The available channel settings are limited by local regulations. g Nitro: In a crowded 2.4 MHz frequency, the connection speed is much lower than the promised 54 Mbps. The g Nitro implemented by Intersil's Prism Nitro technology dramatically enhances your wireless network speeds. It provides up to 50% more throughput in 11g only environment, and improves network throughput by 3 times in mixed mode.ADVANCED SETUP 49 Security If you are transmitting sensitive data across radio channels, you should enable wireless security. Configuring the Wireless Barricade g Router 50 WEP Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) encryption requires you to use the same set of encryption/decryption keys for the Router and all of your wireless clients. WEP mode: You can choose disabled, 64-bit or 128-bit encryption. Key Provisioning: Select a key type of static key or dynamic key. Static WEP Key Setting You may manually enter the keys or automatically generate encryption keys. To manually configure the keys, enter 10 digits for each 64-bit key, or enter 26 digits for the single 128-bit key. (A hexadecimal digit is a number or letter in the range 0-9 or A-F.) For automatic 64-bit security, check the box of Passphrase, enter a passphrase and click SAVE SETTINGS. ADVANCED SETUP 51 Four keys will be generated. Choose a key ID (1-4) from the drop-down list or accept the default key. If you use encryption, configure the same keys used for the Router on each of your wireless clients. Note that Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP) protects data transmitted between wireless nodes, but does not protect any transmissions over your wired network or over the Internet. WPA Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA) combines Temporal Key Integrity Protocol (TKIP) and 802.1x mechanisms. It provides dynamic key encryption and 802.1x authentication service. With TKIP, WPA uses 48-bit initialization vectors, calculates an 8-byte message integrity code, and generates an encryption key periodically. For authentication, it allows you to use 802.1x authentication for an environment with a RADIUS server installed on your network. Selecting the Pre-shared Key enables WPA to use the pre-shared key in a SOHO network.Configuring the Wireless Barricade g Router 52 Field Default Parameter Description Cypher suite TKIP One of the security mechanism used by WPA for frame body and CRC frame encryption Authentication 802.1X Select the authentication mode. • 802.1X: It is for an enterprise network with a RADIUS server installed. • Pre-shared Key: It is for a SOHO network without any authentication server installed. Pre-shared key type Passphrase (8~63 characters) Select the key type as in pass-phrase or in 64-Hex characters Pre-shared Key none Specify in pass-phrase style or in 64-Hex characters. Group Key Re_Keying Disable The period of renewing broadcast/ multicast keyADVANCED SETUP 53 802.1X Management access will be checked against the authentication database stored on the Router. If an authentication RADIUS server is used, you must specify the secret key of the Message-Authenticator attribute, i.e., Message Digest-5 (MD5), and the corresponding parameters in the RADIUS Server Parameters field for the remote authentication protocol.Configuring the Wireless Barricade g Router 54 • General Parameters • RADIUS Server Parameters Field Default Parameter Description Enable 802.1X Yes Starts using 802.1x security control. Session Idle Timeout 300 seconds Defines a maximum period of time for which the connection is maintained during inactivity. Re-Authentication Period 3600 seconds Defines a maximum period of time for which the RADIUS server will dynamically re-assign a session key to a connected client station. Quiet Period 60 seconds Defines a maximum period of time for which the Router will wait between failed authentications. Server Type RADIUS Selects the authentication server type. Field Defaults Description Server IP 192.168.1.1 The IP address of the RADIUS server. Server Port 1812 UDP port is used for RADIUS authentication messages. Secret Key none Defines a text string on both the RADIUS client and server to secure RADIUS traffic. The RADIUS server requires MD5 Message-Authenticator attribute for all access request messages. The 802.1x authentication scheme is supported by using the Extensible Authentication Protocol (EAP) over the RADIUS server. NAS-ID none Defines the request identifier of the Network Access Server

I am unable to setup my email wizard in my samsung corby

Standard instructions for email inbox setup:

i have finished my corby pro email settings & i can send and recieve emails. the problem with only recieving & not able to send is the confusion between port numbers. in secure connection box three options available ' off ', ' SSL ', ' TLS '. use only SSL or TLS because the port numbers for SSL & TLS differs. just try this & you will be able to send and recieve emails.

                                                    SMTP port - 465

                                                    POP3 port - 995

Enable POP in Gmail. Don't forget to click Save Changes when you're done.Configure your client to match the settings below:Incoming Mail (POP3) Server - requires SSL:pop.gmail.com
Use SSL: Yes
Port: 995Outgoing Mail (SMTP) Server - requires TLS or SSL:smtp.gmail.com (use authentication)
Use Authentication: Yes
Port for TLS/STARTTLS: 587
Port for SSL: 465Account Name:your full email address (including @gmail.com or@your_domain.com)Email Address:your email address ([email protected] orusername@your_domain.com)Password:your Gmail password

Unless you're using recent mode to download mail to multiple clients, make sure you've opted not to leave messages on the server. Your Gmail settings determine whether or not messages stay on the server, so this setting in your client won't affect how Gmail handles your mail.

Please note that if your client does not support SMTP authentication, you won't be able to send mail through your client using your Gmail address.

Also, if you're having trouble sending mail but you've confirmed that encyrption is active for SMTP in your mail client, try to configure your SMTP server on a different port: 465 or 587.

You're now ready to use POP with your Gmail address.

Setting up a VPN through watchguard

The key with any VPN solution is to make sure that the configurations on both ends match. I am not very familiar with this particular product, but it looks like you need to have the proper VPN licenses installed first. There are two types of VPN you can do. 1) Site to Site - This is where the are two static boxes that you want to create an encrypted tunnel between 2) Remote User access - This is where mobile users connect to a central site over an encrypted tunnel from their home or on the road. Next, take a looks at the User Guide PDF here: https://www.watchguard.com/help/documentation/soho6.asp Chapter 10 tells how to configure the VPN on the Firebox side. You would just duplicate your settings if your doing option #1. Chapter 11 tells how to configure the VPN on the client side. This section would tell you how to configure the client software for option #2. Hope this helps.
