The radio was improperly installed; there are two 12V leads, one services the radio when on, the other, only the circuitry for the clock and presets.
Eventually, this shouldn't be needed if the manufacturers ever think about using a little bit of flash memory for the presets and a coin cell for the clock.

You didn't give any model number so researching the manual is impossible.
If you can find the model number, look for a user's (or installation) guide on line to find the wiring info.

SOURCE: 2003 Kia Rio radio station settings

Go to the radio station that you want, once there, push any of the numbered buttons and hold it there for a couple of seconds. That should set it.

SOURCE: I have a problem with time display on my Bose CD/Clock Radio.

I found the answer on the Bose website in the manual for the radio. While the radio is on, hold down Alarm Setup and preset 1 at the same time. That will set it so the clock displays. If you do the same thing but hold down preset button 2, that will display the radio info all the time.

SOURCE: WHY MUST I RESCAN ALL THE TIME?

You may have several problems. If you are using a indoor antenna, upgrade to a outdoor antenna. The indoor antenna has to be adjusted every time you change a channel. If you plan to sit in a chair and never move when watching tv, you may be able to pick up a channel or two. Get a UHF/VHF antenna from a home improvement store. The big box electronic stores are selling a digital antenna. There is no such thing. The antenna doesn't know if the signal is digital or analog, it just picks up uhf and vhf signals. The other problem could be that the box is bad if it is not saving the scan. I would check the antenna first from what you said though.

96 toyota camery, radio has no memory, have to find the channel each time i start the car

The radio has two pins for power connection. The one is active only when the carkey has been turned, the other is always live with 12V to keep the radio settings. It sounds like it is only powered by the key dependant power, and not the "always-on" for the radio memory.

One channel is not putting out like it should

USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. SWITCH THE RCA INPUTS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS IN THE SAME CHANNEL, THE THE AMPLFIER OR SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEM SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE PROBLEM IS THE RCA CABLE OR RADIO ITSELF. YOU CAN VERIFY YOUR FINDINGS BY STARTING WITH THE SPEAKERS FIRST. SWAP THE SPEAKERS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS ON THE SAME SPEAKER, THEN THE SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEMS SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE AMPLIFIER OR INPUTS ARE TO BLAME. BY FOLLOWING THESE TWO METHODS, YOU WILL BE ABLE TO DETERMINE EXACTLY WHICH COMPONENTS ARE AT FAULT. REMEMBER, YOU HAVE AN INPUT, AN AMPLIFIER AND A SPEAKER. THIS PROCESS OF ELIMINATION WILL HELP YOU IN THE FUTURE WITH MANY TYPES OF PROBLEMS. LET ME KNOW IF YOU REQUIRE FURTHER ASSISTANCE.....V
PS: MAKE SURE THAT THE GAINS AND BOOST CONTROLS ARE SET TO THE SAME LEVEL FOR BOTH CHANNELS BEING TESTED. ALSO MAKE SURE THAT THE BALANCE CONTROL ON THE RADIO IS STILL SET TO THE MIDDLE. DON'T WANT THESE CURVEBALLS INTERFERING WITH YOUR TROUBLESHOOTING......V

I have a MTX 6304 amp, the rear channel has barely any sound and is distorting horribly. Any advice?

YOU MORE THAN LIKELY HAVE A BAD CHANNEL ON THE AMPLIFIER THAT HAS HALF-WAVE OUTPUT, CAUSING THE SERIOUS DISTORTION. USE THE PROCESS OF ELIMINATION. SWITCH THE RCA INPUTS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS IN THE SAME CHANNEL, THEN THE AMPLIFIER OR SPEAKER IS AT FAULT. IF THE PROBLEM SWITCHES TO THE OTHER SPEAKER, THEN THE PROBLEM IS THE RCA CABLE OR RADIO ITSELF. YOU CAN VERIFY YOUR FINDINGS BY STARTING WITH THE SPEAKERS FIRST. SWAP THE SPEAKERS AROUND AND IF THE PROBLEM STAYS ON THE SAME SPEAKER, THEN THE SPEAKER IS AT FAULT AND IS PROBABLY HAS A SHORTED VOICE-COIL.

Does it look like the charger is working?

Batteries have a life of 1-5 years depending on how they are used. Check ebay for a new set of batteries.

Hi larry, That is a normal ch 9 default on electronic channel changers. Small midlands/cobras also do that. Try taking the red/hot power wire loose and attaching it to a power source that is hot all the time. That way there will be power going to the radio with the key shut off and it should retain the last channel you were on.
Hope this is what you were looking for, let us know,, Mechanic
