Our Compaq Presario V6000 with XP Windows Medical Edition 2005 Serial # CNF6423GR6 has crashed due to a trojan virus that won't allow my computer to boot up anymore - just keeps kicking us out. We moved to AZ last year and cannot find our backup OS CD - (we plan on reinstalling the OS I guess). What can we do without this software?

Reinstall windows system is very easy to to operate but without having a Bootable Disk or that Windows XP Media Center Edition Disc, i think you have to buy a new one or Genuine Windows XP Media Center Edition. It's in the market.
And also if you friends that are using any Compaq Presario which they have the WINDOWS CD. Borrow it to install in your LAPTOP.
At least XP Media Center Edition they use.
There is another options on how to put operating system on your laptop. To gather any information or to do at least we have any ideas how to get it.
No need for any Serial #. Genuine Windows Media Center Edition have it's own LICENSE or CD KEY.
Hope this might help you my idea. Good luck!

Need audio driver of compaq presario V6000

usually all drivers for Compaq and HP computer systems (portable and non-portable) can be found on the HP support website (Click here to go to it), simply go there, chose your region, than your country, enter your model number (not the series, the model number, you would usually find it on the service tag, or wherever you would find a serial number), but be sure to chose "Download drivers and software (and firmware)", and than chose your operating system. Hope this has helped.

Trojans can be tough to get rid of, the best solution is to reinstall Windows xp, then try installing norton again. Reinstalling windows will rid your computer of whatever program or cookie that contains the trojan. Then norton should take over and keep these forms of malware at bay.
