Canon pixma mp780 auto feed does not print

I have a canon pixma mp780 that does not print anything when I use the auto feed. Any ideas?

The paper feeds through, the light scans but nothing gets printed. The paper comes out completely blank.

It prints fine using the copy mode without the auto feed.

You probably need a new printhead, but that problem cann also be caused by the purge or cleaning station not working properly. If you do a cleaning cycle with no carts. and the little pads in the printhead come back with no ink on them then the purge is working and you need a new printhead.

Canon Pixma MP780 makes a loud clicking noise. No paper jammed anywhere. It seems to be the gears where the cartridges are.

i have th same exact problem, just took much of it apart, bu still cant see why it makes the loud noise, also I cant switch paper feed to back, which at least would allow it to print from there... please let me know if you find a solution.

I have a canon pixma mp780 all in one printer. It keeps saying add paper but the paper tray is full.

Check the feed switch, you can put paper in the bottom tray or the top feeder and you press the feed switch to change from one to the other, when the rollers are dirty and paper doesn't pick up you also get that error.

Mp780 - Paper attempts to feed and fails Message: Load paper

Your paper feed source is wrong .Go to the printers control panel and change the feed source.
If all you do is 8.5X11 you can go into the maintenance tab and choose it to automatically change paper trays by selectin auto continuous feed.Make sure paper is in both trays of the same type and size. You will hear the printer try and grab the paper three times then it will automatically switch to the next tray.

Legal paper

Legal size paper must be loaded into the automatic sheet feeder (ASF) in the rear, and the Feed Switch used to set Auto Sheet Feeder.

For printing, in the Printer Properties (or Printing Preferences) dialog box, select the Page Setup tab, and set the Paper Size to Legal.
