There is a 3 prong female socket on back it is usually in a recess facing down to allow for tighter mounting to walls. Socket is a rectangle with 3 pins inside.

SOURCE: My 42" Vizio Plasma TV will not power up with

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors. Many electronics companies were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$???????

2. Open your TV and find PSB. Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

I have a tip/tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. It's called: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and Good luck.

How to fix Vizio tv that doesn't turn on

If you have already replaced the power supply board and your Vizio TV still does not turn on, there may be other issues with the TV. Here are a few steps you can try:
  1. Check the power outlet: Make sure the power outlet you are using to connect your TV is functioning correctly by plugging in another device.
  2. Check the power cord: Inspect the power cord of your TV for any damage or loose connections. If the cord is damaged, replace it.
  3. Check for blown fuses: Locate the fuse box in your home and check if any of the fuses are blown. If a fuse is blown, replace it with a new one.
  4. Try a different remote: If you are using a remote to turn on the TV, try a different remote to see if the issue is with the remote.
  5. Contact the manufacturer: If none of the above steps work, it is best to contact the manufacturer or a professional TV repair service for further assistance.

Vizio P55-e1 TV won't turn on - when I connect the power cord in the socket, the power indicator on the left bottom side lights up for just one second and than turns off.

A loose connection may cause your TV to turn off suddenly or an aging power supply cord. If you see any frayed wires or damage to your TV's power cord. The power cord will have to be replaced.

I just changed out the power board on a vizio tv. have no power still any ideas

How To Fix Power Problems in 5 Easy Steps

1. Verify The Display Is Not Showing An Image

If your TV shows a black screen that doesn't mean it's not on. This could be a panel or a source issue rather than a problem with the power.
Press the MENU button on your remote or on the side of the TV. If the TV's menu appears on the screen after pressing that button then the TV is on and does not have a power issue. The black screen is more likely the result of a source issue such as a problem with cable or satellite TV service.

2. Use The Power Button On The TV Instead Of The Remote

A problem with the remote might make you think there is a problem with the TV. It could be that the TV is working fine but the remote is faulty. Use the power button on the side of the TV determine if the problem is caused by the remote.
Users sometimes think there are no buttons on Vizio TVs. Nearly every Vizio TV manufactured in 2014 or later has a power button on the back of the TV so it's easy to miss.
Reach around the lower left corner of the TV. The power button is on the back of the TV and this might be just what you need to get your TV working.
TVs made before 2014 will have an on/off button on the left or right side.
If this button works then the problem is coming from the remote. You might just need new batteries or there may be something blocking the IR sensor on the TV.

3. Power Cycle The TV

Power cycling can solve a lot of odd problems with Vizio TVs.
First disconnect the TV's power cord from the power outlet and leave it unplugged. Then press and hold the power button on the TV for 10 seconds.
After you have held the button for 10 seconds, let go then try to power the TV on.

4. Re-seat The Power Cord

A loose power cord might be causing the problem. The power cord can be detached from most Vizio TVs. It can easily get disconnected by house pets or if the TV is moved while cleaning.
Unplug the power cord from the back of the TV, reconnect it again, then test the TV.

5. Test The TV When Connected To A New Outlet

Verify the TV is using a functioning wall outlet.
You always want to attempt to power the TV on using a second outlet. Test a new outlet even if other devices work in the first outlet.
Connect the TV's power cord to a new outlet that you have not used used yet then test the TV again. Don't use a surge protector when using a new power outlet because these devices can sometimes be the source of the problem.
If the TV works now then it was the original outlet that was causing the problem all along.

It sounds like a powersupply problem. Bad caps on the board. I've found some vizios with bad caps along the aluminum heat sink.
