Pop sound was broken lamp in tv, replace lamp to solve tv issue.
Please recheck model number as KDF-50EA10 seems invalid/ incorrect model number and nearest match is KDF-E50A10
If model number is KDF-E50A10 then required lamp part number is as follows...
F93087500 ... LAMP BLOCK ASSY XL-2400
and available with Sony Accessories Store for $200
Let me know if you have addition question or tv model number is other than above said (KDF-E50A10).

This indicates problems with the image engine. (Lamp does not control the colour). If the TV has not been cleaned recently, excessive dust build up internally may have overheated the image engine. If Sony will not cover it, you might want to consider a new TV.

Ur power board it dead.Replaced capacitors that puff up or pop open.Or replaced the whole board.

The lamp indicator on the front of the TV flashes when the lamp is busted and must be replaced in that case. The lamp must replaced too if the screen becomes dark or the color looks unusual.

bad lamp

This seems to be common problem with Sony projection tv. I have the KDF-E50A10 that lasted only 2 years. It's sitting in a corner now until I figure out what to do with it. I am not going to spend another grand to repair it!! Never Sony again.

I had the same thing happen to me this morning. I turned on the TV and it had colored vertical lines through the whole screen. I called Sony and they had me unplug the TV for about 15 minutes. This solved the problem. They said the boards just needed to be reset. It fixed the problem and I am happy with my Sony once again.

Had Sony KDF-E50A10 that had the same line problems after 16 months. Was fine at lunch time and when got home from work and turned it on, they were the lines. Want over $800 to fix it. Told me it was the B-Board assembly. Sony was no help. They have exteneded the warrenty on another part that works along with the B-Board but not just the B-Board itself, so probably not any more Sonys. I'm going with LCD now.
