Dell 2005FPW Monitor Flicker problem

I have a dell 2005FPW monitor which has served me well so far. Lately it has started flickering when I boot up my computer. The flicker eventually stops but the time it takes for the flicker to stop is gradually increasing! It used to stop flickering in 3-5 minutes now it takes 10-15 minutes to stop flickering and sometimes even longer.Any ideas on what might be wrong? Can I still salvage the monitor somehow?
Jai

The flickering is most likely the florescent backlight having a hard time starting, Just like in a light fixture, as it gets old, it takes longer to warm up to get full functionality.
If under warranty, contact Dell for a replacement, if not, then when it becomes untenable, replace the monitor. Prices are dropping drastically, an new 20 or 22 In can be bought for about $150 or less

My Dell 2005Fpw monitor has the same problem that jairawat describes. It began a couple of months ago, but I don't think it's the back light. The "flickering" is really a very rapid vertical roll that eventually slows down as it warms up. Once it syncs, it works well for the rest of the session. Based on Dell's response on their forum, I'm guessing that Dageezer's response is probably the only viable option. The Dell response was they don't repair any monitors. They replace them if they're in warranty.

My computer screen flickers when you start it up what could it be

It is normal to flicker if the computer is turned on (on a cold boot), but there could be a problem on it if it keeps on flickering inside the operating system.

I was given a dell 2005fpw screen by a friend and im not sure if i've damaged it. When you plug it in to the mains and turn it on it comes up with the dell screen but after that the screen flickers and im...

if the screen is flickering it could be a bad monitor. Try hooking up another known good working one if you can. If the known good working monitor works then you know the dell monitor you were given is bad. If you get the same flickering result then make sure you wait until your laptop boots up into windows then try to change the output to the monitor. If you can get a picture then try the other monitor to see if you can get a picture as well.

If you can get pictures with both monitors then you know it was a matter of changing the output on the laptop if you get a picture on one but not the other then you know one of the monitors is bad. Depending on the laptop you have will depend on what key combination is used to change the video output to the monitor.

Dell 610 here stuck on boot up screen with green vertical lines

If it is unable to boot up, its probably not a monitor issue, although it could well be without examing it. If your good with computers, you can take it apart and look to see if the lcd ribbon cable is torn or damaged. If you don't feel you can do it, contact dell support or take it to your local computer repair shop. I hope this helps!

Flashing on and off

I would suggest trying another monitor to rule out your PC or monitor card. I would also check the video settings on the PC. Then assuming your cable/connector and video card are okay, it sounds like a lamp or lamp driver (a.k.a. ballast or inverter) issue. In other words, an internal issue that probably needs component-level troubleshooting.
