your problem is in the compressor area check the relay on the compressor

higher the number, colder the fridge ie 7 is the coldest setting
switch with red dot is for summer/winter operation. only necessary to switch it on if the appliance is in a cold location

I had the same problem. I coudn't get the knob to turn. I ended up taking the front grill off so I could get a better grip on the knob. Once I did that I still have to put a lot of pressure on the knob to turn it but that did the trick. When I got it turned a quarter turn then it was easy to pull the filter out. Hope this helps!
