First, you need to configure the wireless adapter inside the D-Link router:
* set an SSID -- the "name" of your network
* set an encryption-level -- use 'WPA' or 'WPA2'
* set a password for your network.

Then, enter the SSID and the password on the PS3, to connect to your wireless network.

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

I Suggest you should try resetting your router again

You don't need to install anything extra to secure the network. It's a matter of changing router settings. You set up the router through your web browser by going to "http://192.168.0.1" which accesses the device's setup screens.
