DVD Record wont finalize - LG RH397D

I am dubbing a recording from the HDD to DVD-R via using the FAST method.
I am at 99% when I get a message saying "Do you want to proceed" Yes or No. I select yes and then the message now states "Recording File Information. Please Wait."

It has been like this for about an hour now. It worked fine earlier today and I have used the FAST method numerous times and it has always worked well.

I have tried 3 different dvd's up to this point, but no difference. Any help would be nice. I think I might have to try another dubbing method but would like to know why it idnt work.

Thanks for taking the time to read this. Looking forward to sharing the problem and any solutions you may be able to offer.

We are currently taking vcr tapes onto hdd then to discs. The only ones we can finalize are if we use +rw discs as we want them to be played on other machines. +Rdo not want to finalize.

What you are recording is over 2 hours and there is no space left on your DVD. You have to split your film in 2 hours (and less) and record what i left on another DVD.

What you are trying to record is over 2 hours long ? If yes, then it cannot fit all on your DVD and basically asks you to put another DVD in. You have to select another mode of recording allowing more than 2 hours (but you lose in quality) or split into 2 your film and stick onto 2 different DVD.

Have you changed brand of disks? Sometime different brands give different results.

I can not get my DVD to play after dubbing. A message comes up, no title.

dvd+rw is garbage, organic dye in the layers breaks down fast, always use dvd-r. dvd-rw also has compatible reading problems with many dvd players, hope that helps. also you need to make sure it is finalized for another dvd player to read it

I own a lg rh399h dvd recorder. I have finally figured out how to record from dvd to hdd, but it records in real time (slowly). Does anyone know how to :fast copy'' from dvd to hdd???

LG HDD/DVD RECORDER RH399H

Insert an empty DVD + R. The system asks whether to format - Format.
Select a recording on the HDD to copy to DVD.
Enter
Select dubbing
with arrows select type of recording to make (XP, SP, EP etc)
The system show the duration you can copy to you DVD. If small enough the FAST option also appears.
If big copies while playing the orriginal (I.e. playback speed)

DVD - Video Finalization rejection

1. The message can appear if the disc has already been finalised.

2. The disc may be faulty.

3. Try copying again from HDD to another disc. Performing a copy and finalise together by using 'DVD Video Creation' from the Edit menu can be more successful than doing each step separately.

4. When you transferred from your video camera, did you use firewire? If so, did you record at the maximum (default) bitrate of 14+ ? If so, you must copy (rate conversion) to the DVD at a maximum bitrate of 9.2, which is the maximum for the DVD playback standard.

Will not dub to dvd-r from HDD in high speed mode

It will only high speed dub in the speed it was recorded in. You can dub, for example, SP on your hard drive to SP on a DVD. You cannot dub high speed, for example, SP on your hard drive to LP on a DVD.

DVD Burning doesn't work..no Disc in Setup..

Been checking out my m/c and found that there are many -r & -rw discs the m/c does not recognise which gives rise to this problem. However the m/c does recognise VERBATIM discs and I have been able to record and dub to them with no problems.

Lg rh266 recorder

When you put your disc in and its ready for copying over through Dubbing - when you see the quality ie xp - just press right or left til the FAST sign comes up. it maynot always come up if the recording time is any longer than an hour or less than 30 mins.

pg 47 of your manual
