Hello Jerry, for what you mention, the problem on your TV Vizio M43-C1, is in the backlighting, some of the LEDs that illuminate the LCD Panel are wrong and that is why you can not see the image
You have to change all the LEDs to do a correct job

If you have back light, then it is the main board. Not recieving a signal.
if you dont have any clue, take it to someone that does or damage your tv
SOURCE: 47' (sic) LED TV, model number m470vse. Why doesn't the backlight work?
Check and replace damaged component/s at its back-light inverter board, or replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. It will be best to replace the inverter board as card basis.

In some models of LCD TVS; the backlight inverter and its T'Con board will be a part of the panel itself, and will be a built-in type inside the LCD panel. If so, they can't be replaced. In this case; a panel replacement is the only repair. For some other models, the backlight inverter section circuit will be a part of the main power supply regulator [SMPS]. To such sets, the power supply section circuit too should trouble shoot. Contact any service technician. The circuit will differ with models and versions.
If the picture is there but dark that means that your backlight has failed. Based on the age, this set likely uses a Cold Cathode for the backlight. The driver boards for these do fail over time and unless the tubes themselves have failed, likley a new backlight driver board will fix the problem. Check Ebay as a good source for parts.
Hey Matt, It was nice speaking with you on 6YA. If I can be of anymore help feel free to ask. Several other forums I browsed recommend replacing both the LED Driver and the Power Board at the same time and several say one at a time is fine. Replace the LED Driver board then go from there.
