Yes, one nice overhaul will fix..(this can be done by you if you are daring...when u open take apart you will find a metal strip like band..I had used a bandaid for brakes the gauze side) you need new brakes (just like a car it is run down) on the reels in order for it slow & stop when it suppose to...or you can search and find a good old fashion repairman..(sorry I dont know of none)...for dragging, before playing all open reels fast fwd to one end then rewind it back to the beginning now hold the blank reel with that little bit catch tape try to tighten full side tape by going slightly going the other way not trying to stretch nor pop the tape.....now press play

Pioneer rt707 ...ff & rewind buttons work...play

I have not seen a RT707 but in the RT909 there are reel settings for the reel motors as far as torque goes. A copy of the service manual will tell you how to set these tensions. I suspect that you have a setting that favors one direction.

Magnavox dv220mw9 the vcr player won't play

Someone will have to open the unit to see what is happening---either tape is not loading all the way or when FF or Rewind hit not moving the reels----could be as simple as a belt or a bad drive idler (most use either a rubber wheel or gears to move the tape in Play, FF, and Rewind.

Hi, I am seeking the region free code for a Samsung DVD-D530? Thanks!

I tried the above steps, but each time when restarting the DVD player, it said 'reset' and asked for the language to be selected again. Pressing the "Fast Forward Fast Rewind Fast Forward Up Down" sequence caused the player to lock up and require powering off at the wall.
I found on another web site that there are different initial sequences. Once I use the one for Region 2, it worked fine.

I found the instructions below on another web site, but it worked for me...
  • Make sure there is no disc in the player.
  • Turn on the player (you can use remote control or front panel, it doesn't matter)
  • Wait for "No Disc" message to appear on the TV screen.
  • Press the Repeat button on remote (plain, not A-B).
  • Press the correct sequence of buttons of remote according to the original region code of your player (it's on the sticker on the back panel of the player). FF = fast forward, FR = fast rewind.
    • Region 2 players: FF, FR, FF, UP, DOWN
    • Region 3 players: FF, PLAY, FR, UP, LEFT
    • Region 4 players: FR, PLAY, DOWN, DOWN, RIGHT
    • Region 5 players: FF, UP, DOWN, STOP, RIGHT
    • Region 6 players: LEFT, RIGHT, RIGHT, PLAY, LEFT
  • If you pressed the correct sequence, a small white number 0 will appear somewhere on the top right of the screen. The white number 0 of the same font and size as the "No Disc" message, so don't confuse with the red "not allowed" sign that would appear when you press a function that's not available.
  • Turn the player off and on again, then you can pop in a DVD of any region and watch immediately.
Good luck!

Foot pedal FF or Rewinds when pressing Play

It's possible that there's a broken wire in the cable that connects the foot control to the machine. This usually happens near the plug that plugs into the machine, or by the end that goes into the foot control.

You can usually duplicate it if you put the auto-backspace up a bit and then hold down the play pedal on the foot control. While holding down the play pedal, try moving the cable near the machine or near the foot control in a circular motion. If the machine stops, rewinds or fast forwards, then odds are that the problem is with the cable.

Loud noise on rewind

You may have an idler gear wheel which has been damaged- perhaps broken/worn gear teeth or something afoul in it's drive mechanisms. Check this idler which sits down in between the supply and take-up spindles. You should be able to see this with no tape loaded. This idler should also move freely from supply to takeup- if it is sticky in movement this could be the problem. If your idler is broken, you may be able to replace it. Check with a service center- or a parts supplier. MCM electronics is one such supplier- there are others.

Audio problems when playing a video

tv cant cause this problem. It sounds like the capstan motor or the motor servo control or the pinch roller is going bad and worn. These models have a direct drive for the play so the belts not the problem as its only used for the ff and rewind. These sets are very compact and a bugger to open . There are no serviceable parts inside these tv combos so a cerified tech should check it for you, unless your aware of the HV safty factors as theres HV in these sets even when there unplugged. Good Luck
