It's probably a defective bottom door switch, or the amount for the bottom door switch is loose, misaligned, or broken.

You should be able to find a parts diagram and find the part you need here: http://goo.gl/zWz6Bz

SOURCE: sharp carousel microwave doesn't spin

The turntable system consists of the motor, the coupler, the turntable support with rollers, and the tray.

You can see and hear a video of how a turntable motor should sound when you rotate it by hand.

If yours is not set to be off via the control panel, and it won't rotate or it sounds like it's grinding, etc., you may have a bad motor or plastic coupler.

To replace either, you need to unplug power, then remove the bottom cover of the oven. In some brands, you have to cut the motor cover off with snips, then use a screw when reassembling it.

The best place to order Sharp parts is Tritronics. You can also call them at 866-779-5835

My sharp carousel II microwave no longer heats food. Do I need to buy a new one?

The problem maybe the magnetron, or the inverter board if 7 years old or less, and possibly the keypad control board, by the time you add parts and labour cheaper to replace the microwave oven in the long run.

Our microwave (Sharp Carousel) suddenly does not work. The control panel shows the flashing 88:88 so it has power. However none of the other buttons work.

The service manual is at our site here.

In most cases, disassembly and cleaning is all that's required.

I have a sharp carousel microwave that has stopped heating, all the electronics ar working and the turntable and light work. Just stopped heating.

The way of the world! Your Magnatron ( engine) has died. the cost of replacement may exceed the value depending on age. Many good microwaves, prechechecked and given some warranty are available second hand at pawn shops and some electrical traders that refurbish items from trade ins average price $50-100 Your magnatron exceeds by double that as just a part then there is labour of about 3 hours at $90 an hour plus any tax.

So you have to consider ... is it worth that?"

I'm asking about a problem my parents have with their Sharp Carousel microwave. When using the oven, it stops after about a minute, then when the door is opened, the turntable starts revolving and the fan...

If this is a countertop microwave and is not an expensive unit, it will not be cost effective to pay someone to repair it. Best thing is to just buy a new microwave especially if it is very old. The cost of the repairs could easily be more than a new unit and sometimes you pay to have it repaired an then something else goes wrong. With the condition you describe I would not use this unit until it is repaired or replaced with a new one.

The carousel in our Sharp Microwave/Convection Oven suddenly stopped turning. Nothing seems to be blocking it--it whirls around when I push it. Any ideas?

Got someone to come look at it, and the motor for the turntable has burned out! We're ordering the part!
Thank you!
