did you drain the gas before putting it away last season? If not, I would drain all of the gas and put in fresh gas, also replace any in line gas filters

SOURCE: I am looking for a Shift Cable for my riding mower ,Yard Bug MTD.

My dad has a yard bug and the forward and reverse shift cables are the same. I can't locate the part numbers off hand but look on partstree.com and you'll find your schematic and part number. The cable is upwards of forty bucks.

Diagrams and videos. It would have been useful to have the model number of the mower. My normal search query would be

Key won't start engine

Switch is either bad or a wire may have came loose on the back side of the switch. check to make certain that the battery is good and that the positive and negative wires are connectly cleanly and tightly onto the battery.

Where is the fuse that runs from the p.t.o of a John Deer riding mower ?

Go to upstateoutdoorpowerequipment.com, look up your engine type not mower brand and you can get an illustrated parts view of it. If not in engine type parts view you can look it up in your mower brand. Engine will have a plate on it that gives engine info. Mower info is usually under the seat. If PTO is not engaging it usually means low battery charge or the PTO switch is bad.

I need more info. I need engine make, model, code, date of manufacture, etc. It sounds like a governor spring. Is it wrapped around a linkage going from carb to governor on engine? If it is, it goes in the same hole the likage goes. But to be sure get me the info above and I will check for you.

I am looking for a Shift Cable for my riding mower ,Yard Bug MTD.

I.D. plates are offen found over one of the rear wheels, or under the seat. You may be able to make your own cable, HD/Lowes/hware stores carry cable in bulk and also have clamps to secure a loop in the ends. good luck, Chuck
